Mars has no moon... Phobos is a captured asteroid.

  • A natural satellite is described as a celestrial body that orbits a planet, and isn't artificial, so Phobos fits the bill. Size doesn't really matter. I think Saturn has a Moonlet thats like 14 ft or something crazy, I can't remember. Haha. You are right though! It's theorized that Mars pulled both of its Moons out of the Asteroid belt many years ago, so they are both captured asteroids!

  • congrats on being WRONG. A moon is any orbiting celestial body that is natural, a captured asteroid that does not meet the definition of a binary system, (a binary system would be two celestial objects of planetary mass orbiting each other) fits this definition, thus it IS a moon. stupid.

  • Mars has 2 moons Phobos and Demios. Both are believed to be captured asteroids, however that doesn't invalidate them from being a moon. A moon is an celestial body orbiting another body. Planets can be considered moons to the sun.
