Release order first, then canon order. I would just ignore Reach, you're also forgetting Halo Wars, Halo 4, Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike. Halo 4 is fantastic, actually.

Halo 4 is shit and you're shit for telling him to ignore reach and add 4.
-
Why can't we like all the Halo games? ;__; I never got into halo wars, though. Just wasn't fun for me.
-
Because halo 4 is a step away from halo while halo 5 is an entire other game, just with a halo skin. That's why.
-
Eh. I personally loved the direction H4 campaign went in. The multiplayer was decent but definitely could've been better. H5 seems promising with no custom load outs (from what I saw) and I'm sure I'll love the story. Seriously, if you want a game that doesn't change, grow, and introduce new aspects and mechanics, maybe CoD is the right game for you.
-
No, it's not that I want the same game every year. I just don't want to see the games I love be torn apart. Halo isn't a game that can change because the thing that makes it halo are core game mechanics. When you change it, it isn't halo. Mario, mortal kombat, and Zelda are all games that can change and that's because those games aren't defined by their core game mechanics. I honestly just want halo to die at this point. I don't want it to change and I don't want it to be call of duty. I want it to die as the great game it always was.
-
You say you don't want the same game every year, but then you go on and say you don't want it to change. What's the word I'm looking for? Look man, I love the old halos just as much as the next guy but for it to grow it needs to change. 343i has done a wonderful job and H5 will definitely deliver. The core mechanics are the same. You still jump with A, shoot with the trigger, zoom with the analog click, throw grenades with LT. So what they added some new things, that's what makes it better. You've gotta grow up sometime.
You say you don't want the same game every year, but then you go on and say you don't want it to change. What's the word I'm looking for?
I guess you're just conveniently taking out the part where I say I want it to die.
Look man, I love the old halos just as much as the next guy but for it to grow it needs to change. 343i has done a wonderful job and H5 will definitely deliver.
If it changes, it isn't halo. It just wears a halo skin. Look at fallout 1 & 2 then look at fallout 3. They're all great games but any fan would tell you that fallout 3 isn't even fallout. It just wears a fallout skin.
The core mechanics are the same. You still jump with A, shoot with the trigger, zoom with the analog click, throw grenades with LT. So what they added some new things, that's what makes it better.
Those aren't core mechanics, those are just the controls. In the newer halos, you have less health. That changes the game drastically and makes it more fast paced. Sprint is standard which sounds nice but it isn't. Also in halo 5 you have this word thruster pack which just changes up the game completely.
You've gotta grow up sometime.
And you have to know when to let go. "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain" This quote can pretty much be used for all forms of media as well. Shows and video either end while they're good, or they get dragged along until they're garbage. The only way they can survive is if they're reworked into something new. Something that isn't even the original but still holds the same name. That's exactly what 343 is doing and it isn't a good thing.

Edited by UncleDaddy: 6/3/2015 6:45:22 PMJet packs where introduced in 2010, with Halo Reach. No wait, ODST actually, so either way that's not new. You're saying that, a spartan (who lore wise can run up to, what 60mph,) shouldn't be able to sprint in game? Also, being introduced in 2010 in Halo Reach. I love that I can run to cover avoiding fire rather than walking and getting shot up. I bet you also have a problem with the assassinations in Halo 4 right? Also, being introduced in 2010, so not new. If anything, 343i is sticking very closely to what Bungie has already laid out mechanics wise, only making a few tweaks. I'm starting to think you wouldn't be saying any of this if Bungie was still making Halo, right?
Jet packs where introduced in 2010, with Halo Reach. No wait, ODST actually, so either way that's not new.
The thruster packs work way differently than jet packs. Also not everyone in a game will be equipped with jet packs. Also many people view halo reach as the worst halo ever made.
You're saying that, a spartan (who lore wise can run up to, what 60mph,) shouldn't be able to sprint in game? Also, being introduced in 2010 in Halo Reach.
If anything, 343i is sticking very closely to what Bungie has already laid out mechanics wise, only making a few tweaks.
No they're not. Only game they could possibly be sticking close to is halo reach and that's regarded as the worst halo game ever made by bungie by many fans.
I'm starting to think you wouldn't be saying any of this if Bungie was still making Halo, right?
No, I'd still be saying the same things. I'm not really a big bungie fan. I was until I played that horrible game called destiny.

Can a jet/thruster pack give you a boost in speed in a certain direction? Yup! I used the packs in reach to move forward and sideways, granted it was tough but still possible. Not a new thing. Okay so if we aren't using lore, Halo Reach, ODST, Wars, Forerunners, and H4 wouldn't exist. Neither would part of the story behind H3 as well. What, in your opinion, has 343i done that is any different from the direction Bungie was going in? They've kept most if not all aspects of Reach and used them in 4. And if I read correctly, you didn't think Halo Reach was a bad game, so why bring that up?
Can a jet/thruster pack give you a boost in speed in a certain direction? Yup! I used the packs in reach to move forward and sideways, granted it was tough but still possible. Not a new thing.
No you can't, now you're just making shit up. I play reach almost every day. Using a jet pack actually slows you down. Even when trying to go up, it has a short delay. It doesn't just automatically boost you up. If you're on the ground and activate the jet pack and you try to move side ways, you're gonna go slower than a normal person.
Okay so if we aren't using lore, Halo Reach, ODST, Wars, Forerunners, and H4 wouldn't exist. Neither would part of the story behind H3 as well.
I meant lore for gameplay. If we used lore, than I want my Spartan to be able to pick up and throw cars. I want him to be able Sprint much faster and much farther. I want him to be able to kill most enemies in one punch. See the problem in that?
What, in your opinion, has 343i done that is any different from the direction Bungie was going in? They've kept most if not all aspects of Reach and used them in 4. Why would they base the gameplay of newer halos off of one game? I brought up reach because I can see why people think it's a bad game. It changes up halo a little but in the end I think it's still halo because the core is still there. This can't be said about newer halo titles.

You caught me! I'm making shit up but I'm three ranks away from the highest in Reach. And, you can flip warthogs, tanks, and elephants. If that's not sticking to the lore than idk what is. Plus, I'd love my Spartan to be able to do that too, as it'd make for a much more interesting game. I my opinion, I think 343i was/is trying their best to keep the players happy by sticking with what was there. Can't go wrong with a good foundation. But, oh well. We've got two different opinions. I know I enjoyed h4 and will surely enjoy 5.

Except Halo 4 is fantastic while Reach is the abomination.
-
Kid, you're actually retarded. Eat my poo poo
-
The only retarded kid is yourself, which is why you eat your own feces.

-
I think you missed the "Bungie-era" part of the post.
-
I'm trying to get you a good Halo experience in general.
-
Did you also miss the "yearly playthrough" part? I've been playing these games for years, so I know what they're like. "Good Halo experience" =/= anything from 343i
-
Except 343 Industries is doing a phenomenal job with Halo, even fixing the mess after the Reach abomination.

The only one with down syndrome here is yourself for making such an absurd comment.

I couldn't disagree more with anything you said in that post. However, I'm not looking for a flame war. Shall we call it at to each his own?
-
I chalk it up to being a true fan or not. Have you read the books?
