Halo's not dead. It needs to be. It was obvious when Karen Travis's was brought aboard 343i hasn't the slightest clue what to do with the franchise story wise. Halo 4 both gameplay wise, level structure, and production methods (outsourcing, really?) says they don't know what makes Halo, Halo either. Spartan IVs existence tarnishes one of the coolest aspects of the late as well.

 •
(outsourcing, really?)
You say that as if no video game developer does it. It's actually a very common thing. And during Halo 4's development, 343 were largely understaffed.

And no I don't count the DLC maps, the group that made those was comprised of former Bungie employees. Outsourcing for other Devs? I don't care. They can do it til their hearts' content. I hold Halo as a franchise to a higher standard. A standard 343i has shown it clearly can't meet in it's handling of Halo game wise and lore wise.

 • Probably one of the more retarded posts I've read lately. 343 were very understaffed during Halo 4's development. They had to hit a deadline. Do you honestly expect a very understaffed dev team to complete a big AAA game without outside help and still able to hit the deadline with a fully functioning game? Because if you do, then you're just a deluded moron. And with the MCC, do you honestly expect a single dev team to port, recode, create new assets, reorchestrate the OST among a lot of other stuff, whilst working on an entirely brand new AAA game and have each one ready for a set deadline? Because again, if you do, you're a deluded moron. Just because Bungie didn't outsource as much means jack shit. And it's cute that you had to nitpick about how Bungie outsourced to. FYI, Bungie did a mediocre job with the lore, considering they basically ignored the Extended Universe.

Such an expectation isn't moronic at all but instead reasonable. This was a -blam!- up on both 343i's part and M$, but by all means continue to be the asshat you've always been on these forums it's quite entertaining. An AAA attempt with an understaffed studio is moronic. An AAA of Halo's caliber and recognition in the industry deserves a far better treatment than it got. I'd apologize for not bending over like you and accepting any and all fistings M$ offers but I'm not sorry I refuse to do so. If you want to bend over you do you.
Just because Bungie didn't outsource as much means jack shit.
FYI, Bungie did a mediocre job with the lore, considering they basically ignored the Extended Universe.
They're a game dev first and foremost. What extended universe work they released was well done, but at the end of the day the games come first.

 • They've done it with H4 and MCC, both games released as buggy messes with features missing; they need to stop.

 • Halo 4 worked fine, they outsourced that because at the start of Halo 4's development, 343 was a small team of maybe 50 people. As for MCC, they had to outsource it to meet Microsoft's holiday deadline. 343 makes the projects yeah, but ultimately it's up to Microsoft when it releases, ready or not.

 • First off, stop making shit up. Halo 4 wasn't released as a buggy mess. The only legitimate issue was fileshare. Secondly, if they hadn't outsourced the MCC, the game would have been significantly worse off. Do you somehow expect a single dev team to port and recode 4 entire games, create whole new assets (H2A visuals, H2A forge, H2A MP) among a shit load of other stuff and to get it finished by a set release schedule, all the while working on an entirely new game too? You clearly don't understand what you're talking about.

 • No, I expect 343 to stop taking on projects that they're unable to complete.
