Mm is already regional. Bungie intend to make trials connection based rather than rely solely on region. Unfortunately I don't think this will fix anything for most of the playerbase. All they're going to do is swap packet loss issues for latency. Switching to dedicated servers isn't going to happen with this iteration of destiny. I'll be taking a good look at d2 after launch to see if p2p has been dropped (at the very least for competitive pvp). If it hasn't, i won't be playing beyond the last dlc for d1.
