Thorn wouldn't be so op if I wasn't as fast as the last word and hit as hard as hawkmoon lol and it has damage over time
No. This only became an issue when Bungie nerf-batted ARs into being useless. Thorn has been the same weapon since DECEMEBER when it got its buff. Its just a "problem" now because ARs have been rendered so UP, that there is very little to keep HC users from dominating close range as well as mid-range fights. Patch 1.1.1 fixed pulse rifles but BROKE ARs in the process.

Edited by Wombba: 5/5/2015 11:54:54 AMThe problem is mainly the 9 clipsize and the fact that everyone is using it(?). Making it a spray weapon with 2-3 hit kills. Dnno what ARs have to do with it. Pulses are kind of the same now as ARs used to be. Edit: I'm not 'crying out' for a nerf. Just wondering what has happened.

Auto rifles used to be the best thing in the game. Now only a select few are. If they were better and could outgun the thorn then there would be less thorn users

Edited by TheArtist: 5/5/2015 12:02:17 PMARs have a faster rate of fire, and require less precision. Those with High Caliber Rounds can cause enough camera shake to keep a HC user from being able to aim well enough to fight back. In the IB prior to patch 1.1.1, I ran with Monte Carlo as my primary....and made SHORT WORK of any shotgun rushers and HC users that strayed into my path. But patch 1.1.1 put a stop to all of that....the time to kill is simply too long with the weapon except in the hands of the most accurate of shooters. People keep acting as if Thorn is somehow this weapn that has "mysteriously" become OP in the last month. It hasn't. ITS THE SAME WEAPON IT HAS BEEN SINCE DECEMBER. What has CHANGED is that the major weapon group that used to keep HC pushed back to mid-range has had its teeth pulled. Its like removing an animals primary predator from the environment. Without the pressure, the prey animal will multiply and spread. Without ARs (and fewer shotguns) to make HC pay a heavy price when they move into close-range and short-mid-range.....they've gone hog-wild in the last month. Not because they are OP....but because you've taken the lid off of what had kept them in check earlier in the game.

Well said. But imo the ARs used to be over the top weapons.
-
They were. Because they had too much range and too little recoil. Not because they did too much damage.
-
The damage was actually the part where they stood out.
-
Only because they could deliver that damage in a manner that was unrealistically easy and at unrealistically long ranges.

Yes this is gold.
