I always join games solo, and it is the people who quit games like you that anger me the most. 4/5 of the games I join are already in progress, and about 4/5 of those are onto a team that is getting obliterated with no chance of me helping them make a comeback. It is incredibly frustrating and I wish there was a penalty for quitting games. (Maybe a 10 min lockout from matchmaking or something. If you quit for a legitimate reason besides losing then 10 minutes are unlikely to affect you.)

I don't quit games. I look at teams while in the matchmaking lobby and if there is a group of 4+, I will back out of matchmaking before the game begins. If I am shoved into a game in progress (in other words, people have already quit and odds are I'm being shoved on the losing team), I'll look to see if there's a team of 4+ and if so, change character to leave the game before I enter. I very very rarely quit a game I actually committed to entering.
