I don't get why people have such heated debates over Creation vs. Evolution. The two don't even ask the same question! Evolution asks how?. Creation asks why?. Creation says God created the world because He wanted a companion created in his likeness, that answers Why?. Evolution says we were created by evolving from simple life forms to become what we are today, that answers How?. That means that the two theories can coexist because they don't answer the same question. Now, this means that you can believe both, that God created the world, that is the why, and that we are as we are because we evolved from amebas or bacteria, that is the how. Evolution doesn't answer how the amebas got there, and Creation doesn't answer why we are as we are in this day and age. So many people don't understand that they are arguing about two things that don't answer the same question.

Creation and evolution both explain 'how' man came to be. They are in direct competition, don't be fooled.

  • Creation talks about how life was made, evolution talks about what happened after it was made.

  • No, evolution took billions of years. Creation took one day in Genesis. Big difference.

  • but creationism doesnt answer why in any meaningfull way. "god did it" isnt much of an asnwer. its like if your parents says "because i told you so"

  • But you are saying that creationism doesn't answer why. "Why is the world here? God did it." I'm not saying that it's correct, but I am saying that I does give an answer to why.

  • It doesn't matter if it's a shit answer or not. Creationism gives a distinct answer to why, Evolutionism gives a distinct answer to how. The simple form of what I said is "You can't debate against something that doesn't even answer the same question." It seems a lot of people in all the debates I see, don't realize that.

  • Well some of us care whether or not that answer is true.
Creationism gives a distinct answer to why
a distinct, yet unfulfilling answer. might as well just say "because." "god did it" doesn't tell us anything. we cant learn any more about it explore it further.

  • It doesn't matter if you think it's an unfulfilling answer. It is still an answer. You may think that you need more for it to be a viable answer, but you don't.

  •
You may think that you need more for it to be a viable answer, but you don't.
why do we bother with science at all if we can just say "god did it" and call it a day and go home?

I'm non-religious. I said that "God did it" is answer to why because it is a simplified form of what most Christians will tell you if you ask them why the universe exists. Example: Evolution: Why is there a universe? I don't know. How are people as they are today? Because there was a need to adapt and evolve to meet our conditions on earth. Creation: Why is there a universe? God made a universe because he was lonely and wanted a companion made in his likeness to spend eternity with. How are people as they are today? I don't know. "God did it" is as much an answer to why, as "because Evolution" is to how.

  •
Evolution: Why is there a universe? I don't know.
evolution doesnt cover the origin of the universe...

  • And that is why evolution cannot answer the question of why. I have been trying to explain this.

  • science can explain why. just not when you use evolution to try to explain why the universe began. that's like using a ruler to measure the temperature, yiour using the wrong tool.

  • Science can make a reasonable explanation for the universe, yes, but that's not what this thread is about, is it?

  • No, I said evolution can't. If you think that all science consists of evolution then I have some news for you...
it doesn't
