Its a fighting game with a ropey storey about some big bloke with 4 arms wanting to raise the underworld to take over the earth. It involves a lot of limb ripping heart eating and the occasional eating of your enemies.

Er kinda. Not sure if youre joking but the first mortal kombat game came out in the early 90s and was heavily criticised because it was extremely violent and used stop frame animation of real people.

I used to play a lot of Killer Instinct when I was little and I think Mortal Kombat look like the same system. Even similar to Street Fighter. But I haven't played either. Just seen pictures.

If you're nostalgic or wanted to see where it all started get an emulated version or watch it. It came after street fighter but before killer instant (the latter I've not played since the n64)
