Nobody would be spending 700 hours on this game if you could grind for your coins every week and just buy what you wanted.

  • A auction option in the game would be cool but i think it would be better if you also bid using items. Since you can already get up to 27 strange coins a week just by doing three strikes. For example if someone was bidding for a Thunderlord you could bid for it with another exotic like a ghorn. But if there was bidding and anyone could do it then you could just bid with your friends and let them have the item for one strange coin and so then it would just be ued as trading

  • The thing is that you wouldn't know who is selling what. There's no Gamertag associated with any of the bids. And you're looking through a list of items being sold by EVERY PLAYER on your console that entire week. Your friend throws up his Thunderlord for you to bid on. Let's say you locate it and make a bid. But I guarantee you someone else is looking for it as well and chances are you'll be outbid.

You realize what you just said, right? People still have to put the time in to get those coins. Xûr sells exotics every week too for way less than items would be going for in the Auction House. So your point is already invalid as players can just grind for coins and wait for Xûr to sell an item they want. It's not, Player X puts this gun up for sale for 50 Strange Coins and it's sold within the hour to Player Y. Players would have to check to see if they've been outbid on an item and update their bid. Let's say auctions end at the weekly reset every week and the latest you can put one up is the same time Xûr leaves. This is easily enough time for an item to be bid on many many times. Even if a player wins an auction, they won't know for sure or get the item until after the weekly reset.

  • Your point about Xur is invalid, he sells only a very small portion every week and if you could buy the weapons you wanted through trade, you wouldn't have people running three nightfalls a week(I sure wouldn't if I could buy any exotic that I wanted.they wouldn't continually run Crota's end or vault of glass to get the weapons they want either. People would just run the weeklys every single week and maybe the nightfalls to get strange coins and then buy what they want. You can argue all you want, but no way in hell that there'd be so many players with so many hours. Crucible is fun but not engaging enough to drop that many hours into, if people could trade weapons then there WOULD be less incentive for everyone to play. You have your opinion and I have mine. I personally think that trading would ruin the game more than anything. You probably just want it because you are missing exotics that you feel you are probably never getting nothing more. Instead of grinding for a chance to get them, you want a full proof way of getting them, it's understandable. But it would ruin the game

  • Well I'm only missing a couple of exotics and I really couldn't care less if I got them or not. So no, I don't want trading just because I'm missing certain exotics. I have plenty. And you must have not read the part where I suggested that raid gear be restricted from trade. And an Auction House is much different from trading. You'd be bidding against every player on your console of choice (That's a lot of people if you weren't aware). If you really want to get into it, there are all sorts of ways you can limit how much is being sold. You can make it so players can only put up 1 item at a time. Put a cap on the number of items a player can bid on in one week. Make the minimum bid 5 Strange Coins, etc. Perhaps change the currency used to make bids to Motes of Light or a new type of currency. I could go on all day about ways to effectively make it work but it's not my job to. I don't believe traditional player trading works either but this is different. I personally don't feel an immediate need for this feature at all but I think it'd be cool to see and fun to use. Perhaps in future installments of Destiny.

  • There is still plenty of people that have multiples of every exotic and if destiny had a far larger selection of items than I would be all for some sort of trading system. I know how the auction house works in WoW. My main argument is that there just isn't enough items in the game and none of them are all that rare, there might be a lot of people eluded by a certain exotic, but still like I said plenty of people with extras that would sell them. Of course you can exclude raid items, but how much time are you really going to see people spending doing raids? Considering there is already a limit, no more than there is now. Also, a trading system could potentially ruin the post-20 leveling system. Don't get me wrong, in a game like WoW the trading/auction house system works great, but the same system just wouldn't work on Destiny. Maybe an auction house for legendary items so you can get the right perks and things you need. Trade it for strange coins or other legendaries, but if you start allowing people to sell or trade exotics then the economy of destiny is ruined at that point.
