I...just can't believe we were apes. You wanna convince me dogs came from wolves? I would believe you. Both are canines. Both look alike. But apes? How does that make sense?! And why wouldn't people still be evolving?! Why are there still apes?!

  • Well we didn't actually evolve from apes. Apes and Humans evolved from a common more human ape thing ancestor. we adapted to our environments differently. I like to think that this group of will be humans started to learn how to use simple tools, then started to walk on two legs. From there they advanced much faster then the basically the same as them will be Apes at the time.

  • Apes and humans are both primates. We're as closely related as dogs are to wolves. Also, if you look at the skeletons of early humans, you can see each stage of their evolution coming closer to homosapiens (sorry for spelling).

  • We are a different species of ape. There are chimpanzees and gorillas and monkeys and humans.

  • Because we are apes! We look almost identical to primates, we share almost all of our DNA with them! We are not the ultimate creature, and we are subject to nature!

  • We are still primates, we are still evolving, or at least some of us are, can't speak for you.

  • Really? Alright, then. Monkeys, gorillas, Baboons, and other species all came from a common ancestor. We are just simply one branch if a primate tree that stems off from the ancestors. Monkeys and Gorillas just evolved separately in different ways. Baboons also have canine teeth, so that is a clear piece of evidence that we're related to them.

  • People are still evolving. Possibly not as fast or effectively, because medicine and other elements of society hinder natural selection and prevent certain genes from being taken out of the gene pool. Apes still exist likely due to isolation. If population A splits in to populations C and B, C can evolve into population D, but population B still exists.

  • Apes still are evolving. Chimps are making primitive spears to use for hunting.

  • ...but an ape is still an ape. It shows no signs of developing more complex biology, and even if it were, it can't be observed, and there wouldn't be a reason for the animal to develop this "higher form of genetics" so that the offspring would eventually exhibit "the need" for such a necessity to improve an already existing organism.

  • Macro evolutions occurs over time scales that can't be measured in real time. Of course it doesn't seem like apes are evolving. A million years from now all primates will either be extinct or something else.

  • We do not evolve from apes. Apes are our cousins. We share an ancestor. Imagine a tree. The common ancestor is the base of the tree. then the branches are apes, humsns, monkeys, etc. Apes are a result of evolution going down a different path. Everything is still evolving. It's hard to see though withe the human race, because we only have a few thousands years of records to go off of. Some change we can see however is things like height, bone structure, skin color, etc. Humans now are much taller and have a stronger bond structure than those even 400 years ago. However, we can see this change more rapidly with species that reproduce more often, such as fruit flies.

  • Wow these forums are full of idiots. WE DID NOT EVOLVE FROM APES, WE SHARE A CLOSE RELATION. We are part of the same family, and share common ancestry, we are not DIRECTLY from them, no ever said so
