Someone who spends all his crucible time using an OP gun is going to shit on a guy who just equipped it mid-match.

Edited by CLUU5395: 4/22/2015 6:04:25 PMI agree. However my point is that shouldn't take long. You shoot it see that it recoil left and up and you correct. It really isn't that difficult. I understand if you just don't like the gun, that's fine. Again I would say you still can't get mad because someone is good with a gun that you don't like. Also, countering guns is part of the game. So if someone is holding a choke point with thorn for instance, red death would be a great counter. I'm not saying that certain guns aren't overpowered. I'm saying that if you know certain guns are over powered, why would you not practice with it and get good with it. Instead of just begging bungie to nerf it. Asking for a nerf of a gun in a game is like failing a test in school and asking to make it easier. No, you need to study harder.

As someone who is forcing himself to learn Thorn (a gun that does not appeal to me from an aesthetic or mechanical point of view) because it is OP and I might need it for Trials of Osiris, the issue with your answer is that it forces people to use certain guns that they wouldn't otherwise use if they want to stay competitive. I think Thorn is a little overpowered right now. I haven't made any posts about it on b.net nor do i intend to, however if they nerfed it that would make me happy because I don't want to feel like i have to know how to use it in order to be competitive. This is of course much less of an issue now than it was when the only gun anybody wanted to use in crucible was SUROS. The "study harder" analogy is flawed because when you take a test, everyone (assuming equal intelligence) is on a level playing field. The harder you study, the better you're going to do. An overpowered gun (assuming the gun is actually overpowered) is like having a cheat sheet on the test. The person with it can do better than someone who studies more than him. That's what makes a gun overpowered in the first place. It allows you to beat better, more experienced players.

Good argument man. I didn't really think of it this way. Let me ponder some more on that and I'll get back to you.

Thanks for your calm, well-reasoned debate. Always refreshing on this forum.

I'm not fan of certain weapons either, and some appeal to me more than the other. However If someone uses a gun that I do not myself use more effectively than me, well shit it sucks yes, but I'll not force him to use my own loadout when playing against me. Because same as I might not like someone's weapon, others might not want to play using what I do, preferences and all. All that remains is how to beat them when they're using a different weapon than me, and a weapon that is also available to myself, and everyone else.. The most common thing that happens here on B.net is then guys call for a nerf to a weapon they get killed by, have access to themselves, but not want to use, for lack of expertise with it or plain aversion to it. Not defending anything, but a commonly available gun should not be nerfed, especially a bounty weapon at that. When anyone turning in bounties can get one. What next, call for lowering of aim or hit percentage of guys who snipe with headshot well..because its unfair they have knack for using that weapon class to lethal extent
