It's meant to be used to give you an idea where someone is in the next room, and to chase them out of hiding. It doesn't matter if it doesn't hit them, it gets them moving and they can't fight you and avoid the bolt. Just throw it in a room, watch the direction the bolts head, and go in and clean up

If I wanted an idea of where they are I have an on screen radar that is always up. If you don't land it pretty much on top of them it sputters out uselessly so I don't really see it as being effective for tracking targets.

Then don't use it if you can't find a use for it. But there's tons of people who can use it and it fits its role admirably

I'm just pointing out the flaw in your argument no reason to get defensive. A tracking grenade that you have to land within two feet of the target isn't a very effective way of finding enemies hiding in cover already. Radar works just fine for finding them. In fact most of the time it will crash into a wall before finding it target especially in closed spaces.

I'm sorry, two feet? How about I point out a flaw in your spatial sense? That circle that expands several meters is the area of affect, and that's enough to clear most rooms. But yeah you're right, you do still have to aim it :'(

Yeah it pretty much has to be right on top of them. So not really all that good for going around corners.
