It's a rotating playlist along with Combined Arms and Iron Banner. It will return during the weekend, although it may not be this weekend it will come back some time.

Iron banner is a week long activity, is this the same? Excuse my ignorance I am not a crucible frequenter so the more info I have will make it easier to find it. For example when was salvage last here?

I think it last showed up 2 weeks ago. It shows up on the Crucible screen either above or below the normal line of playlists (above is DLC maps and below is normal maps). So it can be be DLC only one week and normal the next. I think it shows up Thursday or Friday and goes through Sunday. It's not a full week like Iron Banner; Salvage is only over the weekend.
