I love how this post is so much into "earning weapons"

Gjallarhorn cost 17 strange coins..
That's two weeklies and you've 'earned' you precious gjallarhorn.
That's not earning man, that a cheap way out.

No a cheap way out is getting carried through a NF or raid, going .05 in crucible, or having a legendary engram and getting a gjallarhorn. Because that would be luck. You can't earn luck. You can't work for luck. Sinking two hours solo'ing a nightfall does not increase your chances with RNG. But you can work for strange coins because they are a set reward. Which is the definition of earning.

Because wasting your life over rng is earning a weapon, instead of working for currency to buy the gun. Rng is the video game equivalent of gambling.
