The loot system is designed to keep you coming back. You play all the time then it doesnt need to give you nice loot as often. If your a casual player it will shower you with gifts to try get you hooked.

Nice thought here, but I don't think so actually. Right now I have two characters and I play 2-4 evenings per week. Of course that's more than a casual, but way less than some freaks. Nearly all of my friends have 3 characters and they run both raids (VoG and CE) in all variations with all their characters every week. Of course they also do NFs and weeklies. So, how could it be, that some if them get Ghorns over and over again and get exotics from the Deathsinger and Crota nearly every time according to your logic?

Thats rare in my opinion. Theres defo a glitch with weapons though. Once you drop a gun it starts giving it you all the time. Ive had 5 icebreakers and i got 4 vex mythoclasts in a row on hard vog. No lie a hardcore player in our clan got it 9 times in a row.

Same experinece for me. Bought the IB from Xur in January (?). Shortly after I had my second character on LV30 and I got 3 more IBs in about a week. Same with Thunderlord last week, got one from an Legendary Engram, after that the Deathsinger and Crota dropped it for me too.

Not really. At least I can dismantle the stuff for exotic shards. What drives me a little bit crazy is the system itself. Sometimes it's like Bungie shows you the middlefinger right in your face while kicking you in the balls :D
