Myself and one of the few people I know that still feel like you and want to play tend to run the vault more than anything. We try to find players who haven't run the vault or have had shitty experiences prior and play with them. That, or equip white/green weapons and do it.

I've actually been equipping lower light level armor and running low levels through the weekly lvl 30. That's really the only thing that's been keeping me slightly busy. And I agree, the vault is still mildly entertaining to do.
