I would like pinned threads to be noticeable in the sense you can tell that it's pinned rather than just at the top.

They could simply create an account (like the Bungie help accounts) and make the avatar/name something that stands out. Then just use that account for pinning. DeeJ being the author definitely makes it stand out less or seem like an old news post (in fact, a random commented and said he thought it was an old post that was bumped).
