YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Deus Ex #1 is my all time favourite game. I played "Revolution" which I see as an excellent game, but well below the standards set by #1. Eidos needs to do this properly, produce a product 3x as long as Revolution and return to the multiple-endings/multiple-allegiances options present in #1. If they do that, this new Deus Ex will be game of the (whatever) year (it comes out in)! #bestgameeverisDeusEx

  • My only gripe about HR was that I wanted more more more. More exploration, more world creation, more augs. More everything!

  • Yeah I had the same feeling. The way I see it, if HR was the first in the series, the franchise would not have gone past HR. My #1 gripe with HR was that the game pretended like the player was able to define the plot, when in reality your decisions were very superficial. In #1 you had three totally distinct factions, each with their own ending, and your interaction with all three changed depending upon the allegiance you selected. I remember when I discovered the government I was working for had used me and was corrupt! I was genuinely furious and out for revenge :) That was a proper plot twist, and I felt I genuinely affected everything after. Similarly, when I discovered the Aliens, my mind was blown! Government secrets! Aliens Exist! haha. But none of that was in HR. Nonetheless, the riots around the aug clinics and the layout of the cities: both were awesome. Ultimately though, if Ubisoft wants to recreate the #1 experience, they need to reduce the reliance upon "bosses" and increase story creation through many smaller interactions. And as you say: more, more, more...

  • My main problem with DE1 was the graphics. I can't get into a game with fugly graphics, and DE's were some of the worst of its time.

  • Im genuinely surprised by your comment. When it came out I thought the graphics were very good. Also, to me: in some ways, the interaction between AI and Graphics combine into one "visual impact"; in that respect, I found interacting with the graphics created extremely convincing and enjoyable.

  • Well, maybe it's in retrospect; my favourite genre at the time was 3D platformers on the PS1. The only adult titles I'd really played were Quake and Half-Life, and even HL1 looked better than DE, in my opinion.

  • Its definitely tough to judge in retrospect, kind of have to go off that gut feeling you had at the time. Only (productive) thing I would say, is that the effort put into Deus Ex sequels has really understated the size of the fanbase. As much as I want a game with: a Deus Ex level storyline, *proposed* The Division level Graphics, innovative AI and repercussive storyline decisions, I have very little hope/expectation that Ubisoft will actually produce such a quality product under the Deus Ex line. Im guessing the PS4 sequel will be much like the last release: short, character decisions affected the plot in a skin-deep sort of way and a lame "boss" approach to gameplay. *tears* :*(
