Won't happen unless Bungie cut last gen support and focused solely on current gen its simple last gen can't handle more players unless you wanna play in 720p or less Bungie would have to tone the graphics down or get rid of something so maybe Destiny 2 will have bigger game modes.

Yea unfortunately that seems to be the most likely setback for a bigger playlist. I personally would be ok if Bungie made it a current-gen only playlist. Hopefully Destiny 2 will have it!

I don't see why not Battlefield 4 and more recently Battlefield Hardline show its possible to have up to 64 players without sacrificing gameplay or FPS an in a few years developers will be using more of the current gens hardware so there will be no excuse for not having 6 or 12+ players playlists.

In theory I agree. Even for the last gen consoles, the previous Battlefield games included 32 player combat with vehicles and destructible environments built on a less solid frostbite engine. The only difference is that those games, as well as BF4 and Hardline, run matchmaking on dedicated servers whereas Destiny still uses a Halo-style host based matchmaking. I still believe though that Bungie should definitely make the effort to try large playlists, at least on current-gen Xbox One/PS4.
