Lets weigh it up...
Religion
Unparalleled ability to cause conflict / miracles and magic / four headed elephants / Sunsinger-esque resurrections / immaculate conception / based on Chinese whispers played over thousands of years / Tardis like ships / talking Snakes / opposed to contraception to stop the spread of STIs / would stop a -blam!- victim from obtaining an abortion / a general disdain and intolerance for people with other beliefs
Science
Cured incalculable diseases / new astronomical discoveries almost daily / Einstein / facilitated landing man on the moon / facilitated all effective modern medicine / atomic energy / organ transplants / rollercoasters / everything else
That'll be some science for me please. In the unlikely event that there is a magical, all powerful being, I wouldn't want anything to do with something so incredibly sadistic.

I believe in science, but I also believe there is a supreme being and creator. I believe it to be possible that God created the big bang. I don't believe that the big bang just happened out of nothing.

I believe none of the current gods are real. But i DO beleieve there is a creator that makes sense

Science proves that God is real, dumbass...
-
It doesn't. And that's fine. Faith is belief in things which are not seen which are true.
-
Oh, the irony! Come on then genius, please, enlighten me.

I dont believe in god or anything else, the problems with all you said is just people in general are assholes. People try to force others to believe what they do, while its true all religions have done this, so did Stalin who did it in the name of atheism. People are the common denominator, even science is only as good as the people that use it. Its merely a tool it can be uses to engineer deadly plauges as well as cure them, to build massive cities and to build the nukes to wipe those cities out. Human nature is violent selfish and cruel, we invent things in this world to fight against that nature, religion at its best can do this, as can humanism, but our base nature will always win in the end. We now have the tools to wipe out all life on the planet and its only a matter of time. In the end nothing really matters.
-
"But our base nature will always win." Hmm. Jesus said it like this, "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." You agree with this wisdom yet you refute what he wants to give freely. Ok. Your choice. Religion is not the means by witch life is explained. A relationship with the God of mankind does.

I agree with everything you have just said. My post is flippant in nature, but the crux (eh?! ;) of it I firmly believe in.

The question being asked is "what are yalls beliefs regarding religion?", not "what do yall think about religion vs science?"
-
My alternative to religion is science. How would you suggest I answer a question about my "beliefs regarding religion," without mentioning science? Either way, it's not exactly off-topic, is it?
