Watch this as I share in your misery of a bad nightfall. This happened to me a few Nightfalls ago.
Look at the final kill stats..then the rewards...I wasn't happy.

Ouch! This keeps happening to me....other people keep dying/ low kills in raids and Nightfalls, yet keep getting exotic drops and I get naff all (ascendants) :( bungie should change the RNG system so that performance gives your a higher chance of better loot

Chance isn’t bad though, Better then coins or energies.

Oh yes it was. It had terrible perks. It was turned into two ascendant energy. Plus I already had: Fatebringer, WoC, Thorn, Venation III, TLW...I didn't need a worthless Chance handcannon.
