RNG can def be a bítch. My buddy needed 4 radiant shards to have his first 32 character..
I told him "cool man, we can run the lamps and get the first chest" so first chest -Radiant energy...
"No worries bro, we'll run the lamps, you'll get shards and an armor piece to dismantle" we run the lamps.. I get shards and gauntlets, he gets more Radiant energies...
"Just switch to your 2nd toon, we'll do it again" 2nd chest -Radiant energies... He starts to get frustrated, so we run the lamps again, he gets Radiant energies again..
"Come on man, you got your last character, there's no way RNG can be that cruel" he switches characters again. First chest... Yep you guessed it -Radiant energies
"Dude f*ck this, I don't even wanna run the lamps again"
I told him "3rd times a charm, we got this" run the lamps again... He gets gauntlets and shards!

At least with radiant mats you can convert them, I'm going on 500 ascendant shards and could use energy since I try out new weapons as they drop... I'd be happy with a big pile of weapon parts.

Right there with you, I've got at least 500-600 ascendant shards chilling. But at least I'll have them for HoW. I've been trying to stockpile common materials, vanguard/crucible points, and class specific materials for HoW so I'll be on the ball on day 1. Side note: my buddy slacked on his Eris bounties and took a break from Destiny so he's only at rank 3 1/3 for Eris, that's what's been so frustrating for him

So it's not just me who is starting to run low on weapon parts? Mustn't complain as have had a good few weeks of new gear, but still, I only have about 150 left!

RNG seems to love me so I've tried to make a point to try about everything out at least to the last perk unlocked before scrapping and I think I have 8 weapon parts total right now after a couple more upgrades last night. I've actually burned vg marks to buy weapons just for energy/parts since I've had or have all current VG weapons and nothing left to use marks on until DLC. Good problem to have - no complaints and mostly self-inflicted.

I feel your friends pain. At one time I had 4x more r energy then shards. It sucks.
