go to the tower.... take a look at the traveler....he is blown up from the bottom... the traveler didnt sacrifice itself, it tried to flee us and Rasputin stopped it... he says STOP STOP STOP because he sees the traveler beginning to leave us behind, knowing we would have no chance of stopping the darkness without the light he stops the traveler from leaving... Rasputin doesnt trust us is why he lays quite knowing we are being risen from the dead to collect motes of light to heal the traveler then it will either leave us or stay and help with the fight... the hive are the physical presence of the darkness... the hive feeds off the light. the fallen are who the traveler left last... the traveler came to them built them up (like us) in the hope that they will be able to fight off the darkness. when defeat was near the traveler fled to us trying to get a headstart building up the next civilization to hopefully be able to fight off the darkness. now they know wage war against the traveler... the Vex are the Fallen Exos... the Vex are trying to take control of time to see either destroy the traveler before it was ever created... or see to it that it never comes to the fallen... in prelaunch videos you see the fallen and vex working together... which leads me to believe that a house of fallen is trying to help the vex at some point in the game and we have yet to see that... I dont have an educated theory on the cabal because there isnt much back story on them... but my guess is when HOW drops we get a lot of info... the name "awoken" suggests knowledge. hopefully we get to meet some of the exiled former tower factions in the new DLC.... sorry writing has never been my strong suit...but i hope you get the just of what i am trying to say

Hmm, I don't agree with all of what you say, (like Fallen exo = Vex). But the Fallen being a pre-us I could easily see. Anyways my main question revolves around what is the darkness, and how does the four major enemy factions revolve around it. For one, how each faction compares against one another. For one, how each force fights one another. So far we've seen: Cabal: Fight Vex Hive: Fight Fallen Vex: Fight Cabal and Fallen Fallen: Fight Hive, Vex, and other Fallen, yeah they really don't have things under control. So these conflict of intrests most likely suggests the darkness is a suggestive force of the destruction of the light/traveler, with the closest followers being the Vex (with the Black Garden's heart) and the Hive (with them being the Hive). Likewise the factions more likely "with brains" being the Cabal and Fallen, seem to have a lesser connection to the darkness, but it is still there.
