I thought the combat was okay and some of the fights were interesting. The environments were extremely dull in my opinion. If that's the four main characters and the only playable party members then it's not getting bought by me unfortunately.
It holds promise though, which I expect they'll carry on to the next Final Fantasy game. I can see it selling well, it's just not for me.
Type-0 HD is amazing though, in my opinion. I had no issues with the camera during my first two playthroughs. My personal favourite game on PS4 so far.

True but those four are the only characters that you'll be able to play when the full game is released. Final Fantasy games are driven by their cast of characters and then story. If I don't like the characters, I'll never like the story, therefore I'll never enjoy the game.

Sounds like you are quick to judge. The battle system is built around his buddies helping Noctis. It kind of makes sense since he can use any weapon =) I wanted Stella to be playable though....

Stella as a party member, even if not playable, would have increased my interest. Four male human characters with little to no diversity is a baffling decision from such an experienced director, in my opinion. Noctis so far seems like someone I would hold no interest in whatsoever and the combat isn't enough to carry him.

Although it's subjective. I felt that they were not very interesting. Pretty generic. They were hardly different from one another. Their overall design was also very poor. Clothing, hairstyles, features. Nothing was defining or stood out about them. If they were going for bland generic 'anime' characters then I would say they suceeded. No diversity.

There was literally no story in the demo, I'm pretty sure it was just to show people the combat. So you can't judge how the characters act or anything based on the demo, considering they only said a few lines of dialogue. Lol. Yes in the demo they are not very interesting, but they don't explain anything whatsoever

Yes, it's a demo and things might change but I can't see it with Tetsuya Nomura directing. Their designs are unlikely to change. Having an all male party really really puts me off greatly. I'm pretty sure the Japanese voice actors, which I disliked, will not change either. I usually can't stand most English VA when playing Japanese role-playing games, as it's usually very poorly executed but I guess I could try replaying the demo with it set to English. To see what it's like. They are going to have to drastically change (Both in appearance and personality) for my opinion of them to change.

So will you assume there won't be a story either since the demo was lacking one? And I'm not worried about an all male cast considering their last one had only one playable female lol. I think there's going to be a lot more to this game considering they didn't even have a leveling system in there yet or any weapons. And the area in that game was very lacking, but again it's a tiny sample of what's to come. I guess we just gotta wait for the reviews though before we know anything for sure

The characters make the game though, and since I don't like them I'll never be invested in their struggles or the story. Therefore I'll never enjoy the game as Final Fantasy is both character and story driven. The gameplay was fine and obviously there was no levelling system unless it's all going to be automatic through resting at campfire like demonstrated in the demo.. I can't see it though. Lightning Returns was one of the worst games I had ever played, definitely the worst FF, in my opinion. Having an all male or female human party, will never be acceptable, in my book. Final Fantasy X-2 also had the same problems I'm currently having with FF-XV. Albeit less of a problem as they were characters of whom I was already invested in thanks to FF-X. I tend to stay clear of reviews, as gaming is something that can only be determined if experienced firsthand, I feel. I'll just borrow it or wait for it to drop in price. Unless I get sent it before that.

I actually prefer type 0. Xv is pretty cool, but the generic emo characters do put me off. And we've gone from corrupt corporations to a cR breaking down lol.
