Never played it due to getting the now current gen system but I loved DS1, my friend who used to play DS1 with me says the second one is quite hard compared to the first, is that true? Or is it just another difficulty curve to master?

As a whole, Soul 2 was much more difficult. But there are many opponents in DS1 that are ruthless beyond understanding. So it depends.

My personal opinion is that Dark Souls was way harder boss wise, pvp I think 2 wins there with hexes that cover your screen (I have not played any dlc for either game though)
