This is probably the first forum post I've ever made openly saying that I'm a girl (wow a girl no way what's that!) Anyways, normally I wouldn't really care, nor would I say anything if it was a one time thing, but on multiple occasions have I been told that the only reason I get into groups/my raid/PoE/anything group keeps me around, is not because I'm good/bad at the game, but for the fact that I'm a girl.
No matter what I do, things always seem to come down to the fact it's because I'm a girl. Go flawless in Trials? It's because I got carried for being a female. Get accepted into a raid group? Run sword for someone, get thanked for it? Has to be because I'm female. Do anything? Better bet it's cause I'm a female.
Basically what I'm saying is, to any other females on destiny, has anyone ever said these things to you? Guys, what do you think about this?
EDIT dang, it seems some of you have taken my post the wrong way. I'm not saying that I should be thanked for running raids with people, although a thank you is nice here and there, I posted this in curiosity of others opinions, I know that I'm obviously not the only girl on Destiny. Thanks ~('-')~
EDIT 2 - I've noticed that some of you think I believe I should be noticed and thanked because I am a girl, that is in no way the case at all! Infact I hate getting treated differently. Many people are telling me to get new friends, my raid team is great, the people I was talking about, I either don't talk to anymore, and the other one isn't part of my raid group, he's just a friend.
I've also noticed that some of you are posting your gamertags/want us to run hard crota with you, sadly I am only on 360. My GT is Kat Sphinx.
I do have xbox one but I never play it, as I have barely any friends on there :)
I finally got around to reading most of the replies. No. I am not an attention whore, and no I don't believe I should be treated different for being a girl. This post was to get the communities OPINIONS on the matter.
I'm not trying to start fights, I'm seeing others OPINIONS. Yes I realize I get thanked for running sword because, well, it's sword. Not because I'm a female. I'm just repeating what my friend told me. Please keep the hate to a minimum and realize I'm not trying to start fights..

Theres no girls on the internet. Its a guy in real life.

1 ReplyHello! As a fellow female Destiny player, I have to say I've only been jokingly told that they only raid with me "cuz I am a girl." I've been told that I'm a skilled, experienced player so I know that they were kidding...but I still think about that at times. Anyways, keep doing your thing girl and don't let anybody bring you down ! Add me if you're on PS4 my PSN is blasian89.
-
I think you're just being a girl and overthinking a situation. If a guy "friend" told you it's only because you're a girl it means he wants in your pants
-
4 RepliesIf you're on Xbox one add me, GT: Mr A Nissan. We will play.
-
It's just really weird when a guy makes a female player.
-
I am a guy and this may seem slightly ignorant, but I personally see no difference between genders. All I care about is if you are good. I personally think that if you are a good player, then I would GLADLY play and would treat you as I would any of my guy friends, because in a game, everyone should have at least a semblance of equality! I personally think girls make better players anyway, as they tend to "look before they leap" so to speak. I always get aggravated because my friends rush in like idiots and it's just me being the guy that says "guys just listen and this will be easy!!!"

1 ReplyEdited by SisterSafetyPin: 3/17/2015 9:52:35 PMThat sounds like bullshit honestly. Not your story, but his reaction. The guys I play with in Destiny just treat me like one of the group, but they don't suffer idiocy and they're terrible at keeping their anger in check. I doubt they'd keep me around just for the novelty, but then most of them are between 20 -30. Maybe it's a maturity thing
-
Your friend is right. You'd be amazed how different lonely ass guys will act around women. This is fact, absolute.
-
3 RepliesYou're just playing with douchebags lol If you're on ps4 and need just a bro who'll treat you like a bro, add Azazel9876

16 RepliesMy real life friends have told me the same thing.According to them the only reason I ever get a message or a friend request is cause I'm a girl. It's a horrible thought really. Are my real friends only my friends because I'm a girl? When good things happen in my life,is it because I'm a girl?Do people compliment things I say/do because I'm a girl? Is my whole life a lie?Is anything I ever do even relevant to anything? Why bother if it's all because I'm a girl? Why bother trying to accomplish anything in life when it all apparently gets handed to me for being a girl? People don't realise that the implications of that comment has caused me to question my whole existence, and will continue to make me question everything for the rest of my life.
-
If you were the one that ran sword, then you're the one I'm going to thank - regardless of gender. Your friend seems a bit insecure.
-
3 RepliesNo, I've never had that said to me. I don't make it obvious when I go into a raid that I'm a girl, so it doesn't affect people's opinion on me. Also, my raiding group/clan is a pretty solid group of guys who appreciate me as a gamer, regardless of gender, accent, whatever. You need to get a better group!
-
It's only natural that my fellow males hold you above themselves. It is kind of survival instinct after all <->__<->
-
I don't care who I play with as long as you do decent.
-
I don't have that problem because everyone thinks I'm a little boy. I wait until the raid is over to tell 'em I'm a girl. Nobody cares if I'm a girl why should they care about you being one we're all gamers here.
-
2 Replieseveryone should be saying thanks to everyone as everyone plays a part in the raid (usualy).. no sword bearer no kill crota, no guardians to fire at crota.. swordbearer no kill crota, no titan bubble? bye bye swordbearer hello crotas oversoul. before any elitist bash for above thats just a stereotypical example of how crota normaly gets done its a team effort end of day.
-
2 RepliesI would game with you purely on the Breaking Bad reference on your profile.
-
Either that or they make sexist comments in the middle of a raid. I usually don't mind especially if the fireteam is good, but if it's constant and they just won't shut up, I leave. Then that's when they decide to be nice, apologize, and invite me again. Like no.
-
Edited by AdrenalSpooky: 3/18/2015 2:06:17 PMYour definitely better than me with those characters and that grimoire score
-
4 RepliesMale or girl, white or black....I don't care if you play well. 2700+ grimore=experience and a lot of play time(for me)....Respect!!!
-
eh, I thank every raid group I'm in that's not my clan group, especially the sword bearer, because they do the bulk of the work.
-
Yeah that's weird. It sounds like the people who are saying this nonsense are just dumb. I can't believe that people would play with you just for the novelty of having a girl on the fireteam. Dude is prolly jelly cause you run sword better or something. Also, if I push a team through a raid by running sword and I don't have anything to gain then a thank you is in order. Anytime you clear a raid you should thank the group and congratulate them on a successful run. That's just courtesy.
-
I've played with maybe 3 girls on destiny and they were all really good and really quiet. I've yet to see any attention hungry female Guardians. I do feel like its more awkward for the girls though.. Some guys can just be creepy when a girl gets in the party.
-
Yes its cuz you're a girl they always thank you the thirst is real but its not your fault and I dont think it will change any time soon
-
5 RepliesSo because you're a girl that means you deserve credit as you're a rare species on destiny? Deluded doesn't even cut it. My girlfriend plays and you know what happens when we help on a raid group? We leave and do it again for another bunch of people.
-
The worst I've ever done was running VoG with some randoms. Well one was silent, no idea why, and I started referencing him as the silent one. Eventually I stated that he must be silent because he's actually a girl and doesn't want us creeping on her. Everyone referenced the silent player as a female for the rest of the Raid. Sadly, I was only half joking when I said that. I can totally see people doing that for exactly that reason. I've seen and heard stories about having the audacity to play games while being female...
