Actually, we are poisonous to our selves. Something to do with our nerves, you eat human for too long you get some thing similar to Parkinsons.

Thats Cruezfelt-Jacobs Disease and Kuru, Primarily in Papua New Guinea natives where the prion disease is endemic and transmitted through consumption of affected tisse. Consumption of unaffected tissue won't cause symptoms/death.
