Dude, you can get 6 shards/energy every day on public events. Using the event tracker app this takes about thirty minutes.
Do it on multiple characters and they add up really fast. You can do all this everyday solo.
Public events are a very fun part of the game.
These should not be part of a nightfall.

Yes, but what if I can't play every day?
-
You are missing the point. Any day you play you have many opportunities to acquire ascendant material doing basic task like the daily story mission or public events, nightfall should not be one of them. Nightfall is a one time weekly that should offer better rewards, taking ascendent mats out increases the chance of better rewards. The lest they should do is replace with radiant mats.
-
And I have already agreed to this point two times in these comments. Still - my post wasn't really about shards, but people.
-
Those materials are outdated. It doesnt matter if you play everyday or not. Ascendant mats shouldnt be a reward for a nightfall.
-
So what should the rewards in the Nightfall be, and why?
-
Edited by freakall41: 3/12/2015 8:11:59 AMThey could either upgrade the ascendant mats to the new materials needed or (and this is the better option) get rid of mats from the loot table all together. There are many ways to earn materials in this game and giving the old version of mats for a task that most people complete in order to gain the exotic they are missing is asinine.
-
So you would rather just have gear/weapons as rewards?
-
Edited by freakall41: 3/12/2015 8:21:20 AMIf he updated the mats to the new mats I would be okay with it, but yes I would prefer removing them from the loot table all together. Also I didnt say they should remove strange coins from the nightfall loot table. Even though I have almost 300 of those things I know alot of people dont so those should stay in. I just think having mats as a reward is pointless since there are many other ways to obtain them.
-
Guns and gear sounds fine to me. If you need the item - use it, need the mats - shard it. However, as you say - not everyone has a lot of coins. And not everyone has the mats they need. The game will need to cater to everyone, and every new player will need a lot of mats before anyone will raid with him.
-
But not ascendant mats. At the minimum they should upgrade them.
-
You can't base the entire game on what the people who have maxed out need. I assume there will be more tweaks to the system when HOW comes out. I would agree that they should ADD the new mats to the nightfall. I assume you get new mats when doing the CE raid?

Edited by freakall41: 3/12/2015 10:08:59 AMBottom line here's my point. You cant please everybody...that impossible. You can please the majority however and that can be accomplished by removing mats from the loot table. If how is anything like tdb the new mats will be worthless for the majority of players and the old mats will probably phase out completely. Why continue to give out rewards that will become unusable when new content drops?
-
Yeah. Thats the only way you can attain them unlike the old mats which are attainable in multiple different ways.
-
I see your point, and it is a good one. The mats should probably be replaced by the new ones. Although I think Bungie should have solved it another way from the start. I think the whole level system is poorly thought out, but that is another discussion. I still think people should complain less about it though. 😉
