Better players had already gravitated towards Handcannons and Scouts (for pve at least) because they were ALREADY SUPERIOR TO AUTO RIFLES.
There was no need to discourage anyone from using them, in my opinion. All it does is punish pve players (who make up the majority of players, Bungie...!!).

Yeah man, I heard somewhere that only 15% of the gameplay is pvp. Now why Bungie would center the whole game around that 15% of the whiners is beyond me...

Wrong, they broke down how everyone spends their time. Everyone spends 15% of their time doing something pvp related.

Not really what you said, you should probably read your post again. This is however the way it works in pretty much every MMO out there.

Exactly. Not that Bungie shouldn't try and balance the PvP portion of the game, but I don't understand why the couldn't just change stats in PvP alone, I stead of altering them for ALL game modes...

Agreed. They did it for shotguns, so obviously they should be able to do that for other weapon types as well.
