If humanity actually believed in the afterlife...

...then wouldn't we celebrate murderers for sending us there faster? Think about it, most religions consider murder a sin, and most secular institutions consider it a crime (unless it's done in their name...). Therefore, a murderer is someone who gives up their place in society or heaven so that you can go there faster. Shouldn't we be thanking them? #whatifthephonesrang

  • Then that would be used to justfiy killing people who believed in the afterlife. On a side note, what is with all of these nihilist broken head-ballers on this site? The world keeps turning reguardless of what our idealolgy is.

  • I actually had a run-in with a kid at school who thought like this. At my school, there's a plaque on the wall for a memorial foundation of a student who was killed. He loved music, so his parents donated a bunch of money to our department. One day, a student asked me about the plaque, and I told him the story. He said "oh, that's good". Thinking he was talking about the money his family donated, I said "yeah, it's nice that they're trying to give back." "No," the student said, "that he died." Shocked, I asked why. "So he got to heaven faster." People really believe this stuff.

    • No, not really. Why wood anyone celebrate that? Even if it did do something good people would still want to see that person

          • I thought the religious view was more that murder is taking the life of somebody against their will, which is a crime. It isn't that killing is inherently good or bad, but that since murderers take life against the will of the victim, it is bad. Whether you think victims should WANT to be murdered or not is another discussion entirely.

          • Someone else's life isn't yours to decided what to do with, it's theirs. In the Christian context, a murder isn't wrong because the purpose is to avoid dying, murder is wrong because it's taking up aggression and hate towards people you're equal to. That's a big no-no.

Read this as "If humanity actually believed in the Mantle..." for some reason.

              • You'd think death isn't something to be mourned if the afterlife exists, but I guess that just goes to show how much "faith" makes a difference when it comes down to it.

              • I think this is more complicated than you might think. Maybe when you're older you may understand it. Patience, lad.
