The honest truth is that the best I've found so far is th XO Seven pro headset. They are $159.99 full price. The upside is they are comfortable, have chat monitoring, and bass and treble boost. I've tried a lot of the different headsets and these are the best so far.
The negative is its stereo. Unfortunately there is not a good surround sound headset yet available for X1. The TB500x stealth felt rushed and is missing features that the X400's ( for the 360) had so $229 is to high and Astros are great but I really don't think they are worth $300.

Hey just letting you know if you got the xbox one mic adapter you could use the ones you had for the 360.

Yep but unfortunately my set wasn't working very well ( chat was messed up) so I had to get a new one

I use skull candy slyr and the sound us amazing. Play a lot of evolve and they never let me down.

I saw those but passed because the speaker shape is uncomfortable. However I really like skull candy for my music headphones
