Wan't NASA's funding cut in half not too long ago? How can they afford this?

Their budget is 18.5 billion. For reference, it only cost 10 billion in today's money to go to the moon.

Outside sources estimated it to cost $20 billion in that era. In 2010, that estimate was converted to $109 billion. It's not that bad anyway. We're just sending probes. Besides, the moon landing took many years to accomplish.
