It's exhilarating the first time you do it alone, I agree.
But after you do it a bunch of times, it loses its luster. Hard mode isn't hard either. It's just strategy with a slight hint of luck (thrall placement on map)

It kills me when you have that one run where 3 or 4 cursed thrall are all sitting between the first and second lamp. Almost a guaranteed wipe.
