Whats a Nintendo NES?

There is a massive fan base for NES. What if Nintendo decided to release the NES all over again with a new production run, with a few small tweaks to make it work without having to blow in it (LOL), and say the top 100 games... would you buy it?

  • I'd say the Virtual Console is already doing a well enough job keeping those old games alive. They are pretty much perfect ports that play exactly like they do on their original consoles. And best of all, Nintendo acually gets the recognition and profits from them unlike illegal third party emulators. Only part that sucks is that it's mostly just Nintendo published, first party games with very little from other companies. I miss using the original controllers sometimes, but taking it any further than that would only be for nostalgia sake.

    • I could find a working NES relatively easily for cheap.

      • You could argue that they already do thanks to VC titles. Regardless, I might grab one as a collector's item provided it's top loading (none of that flashing red light and bent connectors bullshit). Mine still works fine and dandy though. Just as an aside, it's funny to think about the fact that my NES was about 20 years old and still kicking when my 360 died after 2-3 years of use. Nothing's built to last anymore.

          • Maybe, but don't they have NES games sold on the virtual system or something? (Stopped with Ninty after GameCube)

          • If we're talking about a plug and play kind of thing that has tons of games built into the console like the Atari Flashback consoles, then yes I would totally buy it :D

          • Why would you need a NES? Many of the games are available cheap from nintendo's online store for wiiU and 3DS, and there's also some kind of retro console due out that allows you to play old NES games, and other games from old consoles of the period, pre-playstation era

            • Maybe just to sell it on eBay, 20 years after its original release date like I did with my old NES.
