I am from l 7Halo7 l's expedition group through the vault of glass
this is my theory:
it says the chest existed on a pedestal at ONE POINT in between the future and the past but not in the present. (this could mean, like halo said, that this "place" represents something physical)
the triangles of glass and the middle floating rock in the raid are right in the middle of the past and the future time gates but if you beat the raid then time stops. so obviously Atheons room wouldn't be in the present when the raid is complete.
so if you raise the time gates after the raid is over, a few things may happen
1) unbearable cutscene
2) chest forms on the pedestal
3) vault door reopens

Ted mentioned that. It does seem interested but I always have heard that referred to as "a glitch." I will most definitely looking into that, though.
