Well, being experienced comes with a price. That being the fact that you'll know what to do and to expect..
It's a price because you'll know when people are off the deep end when it comes to raiding. So my advice isn't to worry about stats being viewable in game, it's to understand the flow of the game as it is happening with your teammates. Take control of the fireteam and lead them.
Yeah at first you'll have someone who is (in their head anyways) usually lead, but you wait and listen. When things get harry you take charge. Use your experience as a positive tool, because if you are just complaining about them sucking and not guiding them you are just as much of a liability in the raid as they are.
Yes it's annoying to hear people that "think" they know how to run sword but honestly it's best they are trying to stay in the zone with what's going on. Just assign them positions and jobs and make them focus on their one job. They won't "backseat sword" as you put it . They will understand what is expected of them and do their best. Your job as the experienced player is to adjust to everyone else.
We adapt as players.
Alright little brother,

P.s: this is 2015, if you don't have a smart phone and can't check stats rapidly. That isn't bungies fault. They did a damn good job in most aspects if you look at the whole. It's a live game, meaning if they implement anything now it has the possibility to cause massive errors in everything else.

Edited by Soul Mufasa: 2/21/2015 7:12:09 PMPoint me to where you can see how many normal/hard raid completions you have and also how many times you've killed Crota w/ the sword on normal and hard. And to suggest that it isn't an inconvenience to look that stuff up online (along w/ the grimoire) is crazy. Why the heck should they make you go to a separte device and type in the name of each fireteam member individually in order to look at their stats. Just another reason why CoD multiplayer trumps Destiny.

Destinytracker.com You choose platform and the input their name. It'll give you ever stat you're looking for. Anytime I play with a random, that's the first thing I check on my phone. It's not really inconvenient considering people are on their phones 18/7

Edited by Soul Mufasa: 2/21/2015 7:27:27 PMI'd have to say you're in the minority on that one. Unless I grow an extra two hands, it'll be an inconvenience and time-waster to attempt to navigate to the site, input the name of one fireteam member, look at his stats, input the name of the next fireteam member, etc... all the while attempting to FORM the fireteam in the actual game. That sucks. The point is, like with so many other aspects of this game, why arent they in-game? Bungie records the stats, so why don't they show them to you in the most basic, simple, and easy-to-access format? I dunno who their UI and UE designers are, but they need to be fired.

Edited by Badone: 2/21/2015 10:13:40 PMYeah I dig your point. I think I was assuming that you'd have no more than 3 randoms and the rest people you knew and play with often. That's the point I guess. To find people that you wanna play with over and over rather than randos. And I'm pretty sure they had all this in-game at one point. Yet they had to rush the release of the game rather than lose sales for activision. There is so much politics going on behind the scenes for owner and game creators. We never know the real story behind it so we instantly point fingers at bungie.
