Just rolled a Lash with:
1) clown cartridge (kinda meh)
2) AP rounds, flared magwell, explosive rounds
3) luck in the chamber
flared magwell + luck in the chamber forms one of the acceptable combos from the guide. Is this a good enough roll to stick with it, or do I have decent chances of rolling something better? (p.s. - I only have 10 motes left!)

I personally would reroll, till you get a reload speed perk and damage bonus, like outlaw/crowd control, at least for PVE. If you run out of motes, you can reroll again at the NEXT Iron Banner, I've rerolled old weapons from the last two IB this time.

Isn't flared magwell + luck in the chamber a reload + damage bonus like you said you would look for?

Yeah, it is. I keep forgetting flared mag is fast reload, not increased range. You could try it, save motes and if you like it as it is right now, great. Otherwise reroll next IB. If helps if you get a second one (it happens, I got 3 rocket launchers this IB, to add to the two I already have) reroll that one and keep the one you like better.

That's what I was thinking. I still have a lot of IB to play before reset, and I just may get another. My play style is generally medium to long range, though (Suros + Praedyth's Revenge every time), so I'd kinda like to have a Lash with Send It and some stability perks too.

I actually use mine without the counter balance perk, opting for field scout instead. The recoil is more than other hand cannons, but it doesn't bother me.

It fires slow so you have time for if to settle between shots, right?

Yeah, I think I agree with that. Things shot at die pretty quick, so recoil on the same target is not an issue so much.

I should just repeat myself though- you have a decent roll, but the reload speed is not as fast as feeding frenzy or outlaw gives.
