The real story here is how does a game in 2015 not have an item/account restoration function. Blizzard has had that shit for a decade.

Thats not the story, and in fact somewhere a bungie employee made a comment making it sound like it would be difficult but they possibly Could restore items, it would just be hard, but whatever. Point is it doesn't matter because the kid learned a lesson and no he better NOT get items back. People can help him if they feel so freaking bad, run him thru a nightfall if you're a flaming-heart sad-face hippy about this poor poor kid.

If it's so hard how do other companies do it? I couldn't care less how this story turns out so you don't need to bring that up as a reason why a kid shouldn't get back deleted items, I just mean in the general sense. Even the most meticulous people I knew in WoW eventually deleted something by mistake. It boggles me Bungie's attitude is just "meh"

This is a good point. Your data should be saved on their servers or whatever so this wouldnt be an issue.
