Disk Scratched-Any Suggestions?

Hey guys, thanks for the help. I noticed some of you said that toothpaste would work. So, I tried the plain, non-whitening particle stuff and it ended up getting tons of scratches. I have a warranty on it, and will get it replaced this Sunday. Hey, at least I know first-hand that toothpaste doesn't work on disk scratches. Thanks, crwnandginger

  • Hey, I just returned the disk today and was told that I had a laser cut ring that was from my dad moving the Xbox around. I noticed the ring, but didn't think anything of it. Either way, just got it replaced earlier and will get back to playing soon.

  • You used the wrong kind. Just the cheapest toothpaste u can get with no whitening and without the gritty stuff.

    • When my GTA V got scratched, I broke it into about 17 pieces, put it back in the case, brought the case outside into the woods and took a piss on it and I think its still there, see if that works

      • How does it get scratched?....... They make you install the game. The game sins for a min then stops for the rest of the game time until you restart the game.....

      • Get it shrink wrapped and take it to the store. They may take it for full refund, or allow you to exchange. Office Depot does shrink wrapping for mere pennies!

          • Im sure it was already mentioned but you can try having it resurfaced.gamestop can do it and they sell resurfacers fairly cheap maybe around 20$ Ive never done games but ive done dvds and cds with mostly success.depenfs how bad the scratches are. If its not affecting the wa the disk is reading i would leave it alone

          • I used to repair scratched cds and dvds using candle wax, I've heard crayons work, it's actually pretty affective. Just rub the wax all over the scratches (not hard) Then use a clean cloth (or your shirt) to gently wipe off all the excess wax Last, just use another part of the cloth/shirt to clean the disc as you would normally to make sure the rest of the disk is cleaned of all wax

          • If there's any game stores around that aren't gamestop, most places will resurface your disc for +/- $3. There's a family video right down the road from me that hooks me up and does it for free.

          • Last game I had that got scratched I took into an exchange shop and paid £2 for them to "buff" the scratch out with a handheld disc cleaner. Worked a treat

Just sell it back for store credit, wait until the shift change and buy a new copy off a different clerk. You'll have to pay the difference, but hey, it's better than paying in full ;) Lmao, I dunno, my morals would prevent me from doing this.. "Disc Doctor" might work..
