Edit 4/13/16- HUD option stuff removed from list. As they were added in the update. Call it a wishlist I guess?
Edit 2/25/16- Changed the title. Shortened a bit because it seems we still have time for these changes since Destiny 2 has been delayed.
Edit 1/24/2016- Readded a part about shotguns, also added a part about gear. Removed part about loot system, as gearing up is more consistent now.
Edit 10/22- Removed point about treasure hunting not being as valuable due to chests having low quality items. Nearly everything you find can be used to level factions now which is nice, and patrol missions reward glimmer which makes them pretty valuable.
Edit 9/17- Adjusted part about Crucible since we do have Salvage in the core modes now. Removed part of Bounties section now that glimmer is rewarded by doing patrols.
Edit 8/17- Loot and weapon section updated as TK addresses the former and rejects the latter. Removed points about Factions accepting both types of marks since they're being combined.
Edit 6/25- Class item section removed as we now gain benefits from them.
Edit 6/21- OP Updated. Added in part in Armor section about tuning VoG gear perks (specifically orb generation) to be more in line with CE gear.
Edit 4/25- Since there will be reforging of the gear, we won't need them to cycle perks. Added Inferno to the permanent playlists. Removed Gunsmith section. With HoW he sells telemetries AND can reroll HoW legendaries. Also removed a point about Expansions feeling punishing as we can now upgrade ANY legendary equipment to max. Removed bit from Xur having telemetries and upgrading since that has now been changed.
Edit 4/13- Removed the part in Armor about us upgrading our Legendary gear.
Edit 3/30- More Vault space has been removed.
Edit 3/19- The general options section (Colorblind assist, and sound options) has been removed. The vault section has been shortened as we can now access the vault anywhere using the app or website.
This is a list of 18 Changes that would make Destiny a much more organized, rewarding, and enticing experience. Below are things that the community often says could use changing or fixing, and 2 steps to fix each one with things that would require minimal effort while yielding maximum gain for both the players, and the developers. I decided to use 2 steps for each instead of going overboard so that everything remains simple and possible. These ideas would benefit casuals just as much as hardcore players.
Like and bump if you agree. Maybe we can make a difference.
Bounties
1. Create Raid bounties. Give players who have already completed the Raids and earned everything from them a reason to do them again. These could be infinitely creative, and could encourage players to play them legitimately in order to receive bonus rewards. These bounties would reward players with Experience and/or Glimmer, Motes, or materials appropriate for that raid.
Crucible
1. Map Voting after matches during countdown.
2. Make Combined Arms, Salvage, and Doubles playlists permanent.
Strikes
1. Mission Voting after matches during countdown.
2. Idle players will be automatically booted after 3 minutes.
Raids
1. Fix the game breaking bugs that force team wipes. Even in the old raids.
2. Allow kills during raids to count. Players should earn exp from kills in raids to help with leveling weapons. They burn through Synthesis packs and should at least give something back. Grimoire and bounties should also be achievable during raids.
Patrols
1. Open up areas that are only accessible during missions and strikes such as The Archive or the Jovian Complex. Going by the number of inaccessible areas per planet, this would roughly increase the amount of exploration on each planet by 5% or so. You still have to enter darkness zones to do so, so it wouldn't interfere with anyone. It would also add more variety to patrol missions.
Orbit / Loading
1. Instead of staring at our ships as they fly, allow unlocked Grimoire cards to be displayed off to the side at random to give players information about the game. There are many games that display info while loading and there's no reason that Destiny can't be one of them.
2. When selecting a planet, allow players to choose which region they wish to land in. These spots are already available by selecting missions or strikes. This saves time for event seeking and more.
Weapons
1. Redundant, detrimental, or incompatible perks shouldn't be a thing. Yet, there are many weapons that have perks that only offer downsides compared to their starting perks. Invective's first set of perks all do the same thing as well, except one option does it better than the other two in every way. This is mostly prevalent on exotics. However, some legendaries can be rolled with incompatible perks.
2. Shotguns need help. They were bad enough before, but now they're pretty much limited to Supremacy and with good reason. Everything about shotguns makes them unwieldy in PvE and PvP. Snipers deal higher damage, shoot faster, can be used in more than one range, hold more ammo, and reload faster.
Armor
1. Tune orb generation on Vault of Glass gear to be in line with Crota's End gear for the sake of consistency and improved effectiveness.
2. Being able to level up our gear so that we weren't all clones running around was the best idea implemented in Destiny so far. Yet, it was removed for no reason.
Ghost
1. Give us a way to hotkey Telemetries, Ammo Synths, and Glimmer items to the D-pad or shoulder buttons/ triggers. These would be more intuitive to use in combat as they wouldn't take away from your awareness of the situation at hand leaving you vulnerable.
2. Allow Ghost to display a static map of the planet. This would highlight the region you're in without showing your exact location as well as showing the rest of the regions as it does while you're in orbit. Combined with the on screen name upon entering a new region, this would teach players the lay of the land without showing them exactly how to go from point A to point B. Less experienced players using the event tracker would also have an easier time finding out where to go for their next potential event.
Player Options
1. Give us the ability to lessen and even outright remove aim assist. GTAV has this and it works wonders for being like "training wheels" until you're ready to play on your own.
Expansions
1. Another issue with the DLC is that it removed all pre DLC weapons from being obtained. Expansions need to expand upon the game. When new weapons come out, the old ones should remain while adding new weapons to the list.

Bumpity dead thread.

OP Updated. The April Update hit one of our requests, so that's down to 18 changes now.

Separate cool down timers on the different ammo synths. 1 minute for Primary 3 minutes for Special 5 for Heavy

1 ReplyAlso have things that you did in the mission still visible. They're starting to do this with things like Sepiks, but why is the Last Array closed immediately after the mission?

2 RepliesFinally! An intelligent person who has CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and doesn't bitch about everything! You are a saint!

Bump I think a lot of these, including the expansions one, and things to do with the ghost, should go unsaid. They seem like the smart and most reasonable ways to go.

The raid bounties is the greatest idea I've heard yet. This could help power you up for Heroic mode or maybe like a Legendary Mode that requires top notch gear that only the bounties can give you.
-
some kind of ingame lfg system should be there. Some mechanism where you can list yourself and the activity you want to do and people can join in. like the system in guild wars 2 for example. I'm not necessarly talking matchmaking here. (even though I think it could be a thing as long as it's optional).

Updated, bounties that pay you aren't really necessary now that patrols give glimmer.

One thing that I think we need in Destiny too: Matchmaking options For PvP and Vanguard playlist Search for best connection (This is really needed option in PvP for some players...) Search for same language Search for same skill

1 ReplyThis is how updates should be done, reasonable thinking without just using the Nerf hammer on everything

Edit 8/17- Loot and weapon section updated as Taken King addresses the former and rejects the latter. This is a list of 20 Changes that would make Destiny a much more organized, rewarding, and enticing experience. Below are things that the community often says could use changing or fixing, and 2 steps to fix each one with things that would require minimal effort while yielding maximum gain for both the players, and the developers. I decided to use 2 steps for each instead of going overboard so that everything remains simple, clean, and completely possible. These ideas would benefit casual players just as much as hardcore players. If we needed a good point for Destiny to be by the time Taken King DLC drops, this would be a great amount of progress to see over the next few months. Like and bump if you agree. Maybe we can make a difference. Bounties 1. Create a new batch of bounties that reward players with Glimmer and Exp instead of rep and Exp. These could have a special name for them and would lessen the feel of farming for glimmer. They would create a third row of bounties with a color of their own (possibly a shade of light blue to represent glimmer.) Rewards could range from 500- 1,500 glimmer depending on the difficulty and length of the task. These bounties would be more specific and require players to hunt down and kill rare enemies found only in VIP missions or eliminate the target Public Events. 2. Create Raid bounties. Give players who have already completed the Raids and earned everything from them a reason to do them again. These could be infinitely creative, and would likely encourage players who like to cheese to play them legitimately in order to receive bonus rewards. These bounties would reward players with Experience and/or Glimmer, Motes, or materials appropriate for that raid. Crucible 1. Map Voting after matches during countdown. 2. Make Salvage, Combined Arms, Doubles, and Inferno playlists permanent. Strikes 1. Mission Voting after matches during countdown. 2. Idle players will be automatically booted after 3 minutes. Raids 1. Fix the game breaking bugs that force team wipes. Vault of Glass and Crota's End has plenty of them. 2. Allow kills during raids to count. Players should earn exp from kills in raids to help with leveling weapons. They burn through Synthesis packs and should at least give something back. You still have to enter darkness zones to do so, so it wouldn't interfere with anyone. It would also add more variety to patrol missions. 2. Allow loot items to be found in chests more often. House Banners and the like should have a 10% chance to appear in chests. The amount of loot from dismantling Uncommon weapons isn't enough to warrant treasure hunting. Orbit / Loading 1. Instead of staring at our ships as they fly, allow unlocked Grimoire cards to be displayed off to the side at random to give players a little information about the game. There are many games that display info while loading and there's no reason that Destiny can't be one of them. 2. When selecting a planet, allow players to choose which region they wish to land in. These spots are already available by selecting missions or strikes. It would make sense to have the option to choose them without starting up missions. Loot System 1. Have loot be reasonable. Lowly enemies like shanks and dregs should never drop Legendary engrams. Higher level enemies like Reaver Captains should never drop Uncommon Engrams. Fit the loot to match the quality of the enemies. A possible method would be... Minor enemies (dregs, thralls, goblins etc) Drop rates have been modified. They no longer drop Legendary engrams. The chance of them dropping Legendary has been added to their Rare drop rate. Majors drop rates have increased by 15% for Rare engrams and 10% for Legendary engrams. Ultras drop rates have increased by 20% for rare engrams and 15% for Legendary engrams. Weapons 1. Redundant, detrimental, or incompatible perks shouldn't be a thing. Yet there are many weapons that have perks that only offer downsides compared to their starting perks. Icebreaker suffers from having perks that all do the same thing, Invective's first set of perks all do the same thing as well, except one option does it better than the other two in every way. This is mostly prevalent on exotics. However, some legendaries can be rolled with incompatible perks such as a rocket launcher with Tripod, Field Scout, and Clown Cartridge. Armor 1. Tune orb generation on Vault of Glass gear to be in line with Crota's End gear for the sake of consistency and improved effectiveness. Ghost 1. Give us a way to hotkey Telemetries, Ammo Synths, and Glimmer items to the D-pad or shoulder buttons/ triggers. Combined with the on screen name upon entering a new region, this would teach players the lay of the land without showing them exactly how to go from point A to point B. Less experienced players who hunt for events using the event tracker would also have an easier time finding out where to go for their next potential event. Player Options 1. Give us the ability to lessen and even outright remove aim assist. GTAV has this and it works wonders for being like "training wheels" until you're ready to play on your own. 2. Let players brighten and dim the transparency of the HUD. Destiny's hud is a little bright at times, having faint numbers, health, etc would be nice. A nice alternative would be an option for the HUD to fade when not in combat. Expansions 1. Another issue with the DLC is that it removed all pre DLC weapons from being purchased. Expansions need to expand upon the game. When new weapons come out, the old ones should remain while adding new weapons to the list. What's wrong with having 300 and 331 weapons available?
Thought this would be another moaning post. I was so wrong. I agree with it all.
