Is the traveler a spaceship full of ghosts?
Just noticed that she doesn't say the traveler "created" the ghosts, she says it "released" them.
This got me thinking: Could the traveler be not so much of a single, unified being but more of a spaceship full of Ghosts that run it and keep it repaired? And when it was damaged, a portion of the ghosts evacuated while some stayed to slowly repair the damage?

I think the traveller might be able to create matter. This would make it very poweful, since as far as our knowledge of physics says, matter cannot be created or destroyed, only organized and disorganized. I think the traveller can make ghosts, soldiers, technology, whatever it wants inside itself. Also, the darkness would have the ability to actually destroy matter, which could reduce the solar system to nothing.
