So a relatively learned member of the forums here suggested that a previous thread had become rather exponentially challenged, and as such a Poll would better service the topic. As a non DLC holder, I was surprised to see that the DLC was in place of my usual Nightfall and Heroic Weekly slot on Tuesday. I found this, along with many other people, to be unacceptable given there was no warning.
In short:
1. DLC Should never have taken the place of base game content
2. We propose a 2 option system for DLC owners, and no change made for non DLC owners. The 2 option system consists of:
Part 1: For Nightfalls and Weeklies, DLC guys get a choice whether to do the DLC version or the Base Game. They can only do one per character, once a week, just like it is now. They cannot double dip. Example is: Week X = DLC Strike or Sepiks - Choose one. If you want some lore/narrative explanation? You can only expose to the darkness once a week for NF. Only peeps with DLC can join friends. That's fair, right?
Part 2: For non DLC guys, we could care less because the game looks exactly the same to us from a UI standpoint. Almost as if the DLC never existed. All apart from a little icon in the bottom left of the Destination select that says "Store". That little choice button that indicates you can purchase DLC from there.
That's it, in it's simplest form. Poll away.
The poll is constructed to gauge a good amount of response.

Nobody would run the new nightfall if the old was available because the new strikes much more difficult, and as we've seen from this player base who cheeses whenever they can, it means nobody would do it, so you're now actually taking value away from our DLC. A much better solution for both players and bungie is to incentivize DLC players rather then punish non-DLC players. You could do something like every sixth week DLC players have the options of doing two weekly and two nightfall strikes per character but that's only a short term solution. This problem will only compound itself in the future when more DLC strikes are released. House of wolves will probably only add one strike to the list (because the other one will be a ps4 exclusive, and thus not on the list) but eventually when bungie gets out of playstation exclusive hell (or decides to release more then a pittance of content each expansion) then non-DLC players will really begin to feel the crunch. Thus the true solution is to create two wholly independent lists that both DLC players can play. One list has the original five (six in September) strikes, the other has a rotation of DLC strikes, and maybe that list only resets twice a month instead of four times in order to not let DLC players hyper-inflate their amount of strange coins.

2 RepliesI am locked out of the weekly and nightfall about 1/6 weeks. So all I would need is $10 back from the $60 because I was given an incomplete product and I don't care.
-
Who's gives a sh1t!? Too many crybabies on these forums. Go cry to your mom to buy it for you so you don't miss a whole 1 week of the nightfall or weekly strike. If she won't buy it for you then deal with it for 1 week.
-
4 Repliesforcing people to buy the DLC just highlights your core game is incomplete mess. The people who spend 60 should not be getting shat on by the people who spent 80+. Next week no DLC nightfall? How much will you rage with your DLC doing nothing for you?
-
5 RepliesAre people still bitching about this?
-
It's just one week. It's changed now anyway. Go dry your eyes.
-
Just buy the DLC. It's $20

I'm a dlc owner and I feel that Bungie should have at least given word about possible lockouts for base game content depending on what the weekly strikes are. Not complaining, but I think this move may backfire on them. I have a feeling Bungie did this hoping people will buy the dlc, but a good portion who didn't may move on to another game. NOT a good way to support a community that helped launch one of the biggest game releases in recent history. So in summary, I think the people complaining have a valid point. They paid for a product they will get about 90% of the time or less if they didn't buy the dlc.
-
This is nothing new in the type of game Destiny is, usually when an expansion hits on these type of games, people who don't buy it get left in the dust, as it should be
-
You guys are not locked out of nightfalls and weeklys!!!!! It's the dlc strike this week so you obviously won't be able to play, when it rotates today all the people that were bitching in the forums will see the idiots that they are.

9 RepliesEdited by Malovi: 12/15/2014 6:02:29 PMSo much crying over $15 when the console cost ~$250-400 and the game cost ~$60-120 (depending on the version you bought) is just plain silly. I think the 2 option idea is a good one but cant in good conscience support the idiocy behind all the crying over DLC for a game you seem to like and want to continue to play. If you like the game and want to play all of the features.. buy the DLC.
-
2 RepliesSimple answer. Buy the DLC. It's the same price as going out to dinner

Edited by Spacedeck: 12/15/2014 4:34:26 PMWell why should us as DLC owners (who have put more money into this game), be only allowed to choose either DLC or Non-DLC? We shouldn't be limited or locked out of one, just like you guys shouldn't be locked out of the DLC Weeklies / Nightfalls in its current form. For me, I think we should be rewarded for our commitment to keeping this game running. Two separate playlists, Non-DLC and DLC and, we should be allowed to complete both of them, and earn rewards for both of them. Then the Non-DLC guys would screamn out "but it's not fair". Well, you want the same? Put your money where your mouth is.
-
4 RepliesWell if you bothered to read the EULA that you all agreed too, you know that they can modify playlists, content, basically anything they want in-game, without notice or your permission. Either buy the DLC, or don't. I couldn't care less who owns it or what they can/can't do without it. If you want to experience the new content bad enough, you'll buy it. Whining like a bitch isn't going to change anything.
Because, nobody cares.
2 Replies20 is nothing What are you talking about
-
So much for a unified community huh.
-
Ridiculous how so many people here voted for "should had bought the dlc"

The only reason people can't play the weekly heroic and nightfall this week is because they are both the new strike from the DLC. Will of Crota has been added to the rotation, so any week where it is that strike, prepare to not be able to do it. If it's that big of a concern, spend $20 on the expansion. Pretty simple guys..

Edited by TwigTwig: 12/12/2014 8:09:44 PMSince when did b.net become overrun with filthy conservatives?
-
Just wait for all the Dlc come out maybe won't be able to play night falls and weekly for month if your a free player.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Move, I'm Gay: 12/12/2014 7:00:27 PMWhat will people do for a whole week without their weekly and nightfall strikes?! The travesty.
-
1 ReplyWhile I do think having two options is not a bad idea, I think they'll switch back to the regular rotation by next week, so it's not that big of a deal. I understand that it sucks not to be able to get the weekly Coins and Legendaries and such, but at the same time it is only one week.
-
I don't care either way as long as you don't -blam!- up my nightfall/weekly ... I paid for the DLC, sorry you chose not to for whatever reason.
-
13 RepliesBuy the damn dlc already and stop bitching Dear god >.<

The only time it isn't available to non DLC owners is when it's the week for the new strikes. Other than that it's same as usual. Just higher level
