I don't hear a lot about pulse rifles, Besides Red Death.
In my experience, it's the most awkward weapon to be consistently good with.
We always hear about autos, hand cannons and scout rifles, but not too much talk about pulse rifles.
Am I sensing a trend? Is it just me?
Edit 3:
Been a long time coming. The upcoming weapons patch, along with Bungie's stats clearly show that pulse rifles are the least favourite weapon and also most underpowered.
I've been kicking ass the oversoul edict. It's actually one of the exceptions. With the buff, this gun will rule the crucible and arc burn nightfalls

I have 2 bad seed downs and a super pov vlo. Not feeling bad seed, although they have good perks. One has full auto, the other has headseeker. I wish i had one with both.

Wow 45 replies!
My issue is the damage seems lower than scouy rifles overall, and missing with a pulse is more punishing than with a scout.
Scout rifles seem better than pulse rifles in every way.

Timepiece. Try that one.

3 RepliesEdited by WreckinBawl: 11/28/2014 5:54:15 PMSuper Pox with headseeker and third eye evolutions seems to be overlooked by a lot of players for PVP. Ammo perk gets you a few extra bursts or the agility perk makes hunters even more slippery than they already are. It's also great in PVE for letting you blaze through the precision damage bounty even though the third eye perk is worthless in just about all PVE.

3 RepliesIf you're good and can land three head shots per burst, you can do some serious damage.

I enjoy pulse riffles. I didn't use them much on my Titan, but they're great on my warlock. Not that class makes a difference, I just started using them. I was doing solid work in crucible with a common pulse.

2 RepliesI saw someone just cleaning house with strangers rifle earlier today in twilight gap.
-
Yep , i love my Timepiece , never leave the tower without it .

2 RepliesBad juju will be such a beast once the buff hits.. It's already a fantastic gun hindered only by the 15 round mag. Most enemies will go down in under five bursts (including players in PvP) if you're landing crits and string of curses is a great perk. You just have to be extremely accurate with it currently. The timepiece is probably my favorite primary weapon. I absolutely love it for both PvP and PvE, it's just a really fun gun to use and is what turned me on to pulse rifles. Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to get my hands on Red Death soon as I haven't had the chance to try it out.

Edited by Meatonyourbuns: 11/28/2014 7:07:34 PMPraedyths timepiece for pvp and red death for pve. Both are excellent weapons in their class. Besides the coiled hiss will be making them more viable weapons
-
Wouldn't know.. Only have had, maybe 5, pulse rifles drop for me.
-
Used to use red death all the time
-
I hate autos in pve as they take too long to kill. I stick with hc. I did go through s phase of using a pulse rifle as it has added flinch and you can panic shoot more effectively, but once your level rises one hit kills are what you look for. Pulses can't ohk at distance and takes more time than hc at close quarters
-
Praedyths timepiece is an absolute beast
-
Kind of depends on the weapon - my experience is that apples to apples in terms of perks auto rifles feel more versatile. That being said I recently got Praedyth's Timepiece which is a solid gun out of the gate and has some good perks to improve upon it. IMO for a pulse rifle to really shine it needs to have a decently large clip, average or better stability and a high firing rate.
-
Praedyths Timepiece is a really good one. I can only talk about that one. It's a beast.
-
They are good, people aren't good with them so people hate on them. Stranger's rifle is good, Bad seed down, REd death
-
Praedeths timepiece is sick
-
Honestly surprised not more are used. It can 2 burst kill in the crucible. Personally besides read death and juju I dislike the look of them. So I stick with my hand cannons
-
1 ReplyLove my VLO. Engram roll gave it max stability with reload perk and grenadier . 2HKO with headshots. as for PVE, I prefer VoC (VoC is way to slow for pvp)
-
My go to gun is a strange suspect. Love it so much. But I did just finish the Thorn bounty and then took it to a raid......
-
1 ReplyI'm a huge fan of the strangers rifle too, it wrecks in a decent hand.
-
My strangers rifle wrecks in pvp lol.. 3 bursts to the head and they're done.
-
Lol, I agree. Red Death or bust. Love using RD, never touched another since
-
3 RepliesThey are ok in pve. None stand out It's burst fire. And the high damage is delt over 3 shots so I need to be on point. Most tend to lift so aim low and expect last shot to travel to a critical. If you are high expect to miss 1 bullet connection. It takes oroably 3-4 tiger strikes to get an honest feel for them. Bad ju ju is the one I tend to use when I use them. No I don't think bad ju ju is a good gun. But I don't like the over use of auto/scout Pulse and hand cannons will or should make you a better shot. They will improve your target acquisition and hopefully get your time to get on target faster. This translates to a better pvp player with scout/auto Scout/auto are a much more forgiving miss. Even an auto pulse is a pain and why you don't see them allot

Edited by Aerohed: 11/28/2014 6:03:01 PMI almost exclusively use pulse rifles, and I can say for a fact that they're amazing weapons.
-
I say pulse rifles are great PVE weapon, it's rare in PVP. I find that PVP is a little to fast paced for them and you need to be able to fire quickly either doing a ton of damage or dealing damage with a large clip. Pulse rifles can't do that very well. However in PVE they can be used more easily and are more accurate than auto rifles. (At least that's how I see it).

I'd agree. If they shot as smooth as scout rifles, and didn't have a horrible bullet spread at range, they'd be more than worth shooting. But currently, they suck.
