Day 3 of network issues, whats up bungie?

i cant even fly to tower anymore? any news about the servers for Europe? (Sweden)?

  • Playing from Finland, wired PS5 with open NAT, stable fibre optic internet, and i get anteater or beaver errors all the time. Happens in the tower or while trying to load into activities, and randomly during Gambit and Crucible matches. Also cannot find an instance of Containment with other people in it, if i do i’ll error code before spawning in. The constant sync and lag issues ever since crossplay was introduced were bad enough (the game never works properly when i match Xbox players), but now it is actually unplayable.

      Yay! Got Crucible Timeout due to Beaver...I`m in Lithuania. These errors started right with the maintenance and especialy from yesterday it was constant Beaver and other errors... Sad :(

      • Still having network issues. Ive played this game for years and never had any problems like this. Now its almost impossible to play any group activity to completion without either me or one of my friends getting booted to orbit. I just wanna come home from work and relax playing my favourite game with my friends, but its just unplayable right now.

      • Russian region here. Everything is fine with my internet, everything loads and works well, except for the game. it is impossible to connect to friends and when you start a match, you are either kicked out or launched into an empty match from which everyone was kicked out before. As a result, it is impossible to play, they give a timeout simply because the game does not work stably. In this case, there is no action from you.

      • Russian region, can't play because of an error "beaver" every 5-10 minutes. Internet is ok.

        If Bungie has not said anything about this and/or does not find anything on their end then this seems like an ISP issue (not a single ISP but rather some critical point between the users and the service?) or perhaps rather problem with the Valve/Steam network. Even though i work in networking/cybersecurity I rarely have reason or interest to check how the game works and uses the network (other than the initial setup). I play only on PC and since these problems started I started going through my firewall and PC behaviour and I found it very strange. I work an ISP and therefore my home network setup changes every now and then. Some months ago I changed my whole home network equipment to single vendor. I did not configure Port Forward and just continued playing Destiny 2. Since the problems started I configured the Port Forward but it seems to me that its only function is pretty much that it shows my NAT status as Open ingame but I see no connections formed from the Internet through that Port Forward NAT to my computer. I do see some UDP connections but not really sure if they are related to the Destiny 2 game at all since my PC/game client does not reply to them. The whole point of Port Forward is that you make your internal devices accessible through the Internet but even though its configured now, it is NOT used by the game. What I do see however is the Destiny2.exe forming connections towards Valve/Steam network. I played a couple of rounds of Containment in D2 with full team of randoms (as in randomly joined the activity) and all my traffic to and from the players was relayed through the Valve network and there was no direct connectivity with me and other players. Considering the above, I would think that if Bungie has no problems then for sure Valve is having some major problems in their network with regards to peer to peer connections. It would help if I had a clear picture on the connectivity requirements of D2 but I do not have that information. The Bungie guides tell me the ports needed for the game but I have no idea what those are specifically used for so I can't really even start to troubleshoot this properly It seems to me also that Steam has a default setting in which it uses the Valve network to relay your network game traffic and I doubt many people even know of this setting. I imagine with changing this setting you could essentially bypass this Valve network connection and connect directly to other players but I doubt that is enough to fix the whole problem since majority would have to do it (if it even works) I guess you would also be impacting your own security online since without relaying the traffic through Valve networks the players can see each others public IP addresses and possibly subject themselves to DoS/DDoS attacks. There is setting though that only disables the relay for people in your Friend list, but again it seems like partial solution (if it even works) Heres a link to a Steam Support site describing the above setting/etc https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1433-AD20-F11D-B71E The thing is that even console players have reported problems so I imagine if they are having problems with purely console player teams then this is not a Valve problem, but since this game is a crossplay game nowadays then there is a chance I guess that you are playing with Steam/PC players and that would mean that Valve network is at least partially used in those connections between peers/players. But I do not see this problem being a user problem. People rarely touch their network/settings if everything is working.

      • Having the same problem I can't play more then 3 mins and it kicks me I never had a problem before til now weasel pops up in a window error but at the bottom I see a baboon error code for a second also

      • Hi, Finland here, one error yesterday and one error today (match didn't even started) - as result banned from Trials, because Bungie cant fix the game, thanks. I am so mad..

        • Having issues in Europe as well. Been playing trials but got disconnected, got a message about "leaving before match ended" This happened twice and now have a suspension. Real class act there bungie, punishing players because of server issues. And yes, I've checked the network on my end, and it's not here.

        • Same, Holland, too many beavers, game is unplayable because me and friends keep being disconnected from each other and can't connect back, only Destiny suffers from such problems, I don't have problems with any other multiplayer game.

        • I join, the Russian region, after those services I get an error Beaver, there is also no connection with other players, the team in various modes simply does not find or throws one.

        • Same issues here, I'm in Sweden and playing on PC. Basically ALL my friends (mostly swedes) are having similar issues. Sometimes you can play together with peopla but most of the time people get disconnected to the left and right... If ISPs are the issue, could Bungie perhaps "pull some strings" to get an answer as to what is going on? Please I just want to play...

          • So im having a specific problem if anybody knows the resolution, i cannot log into the servers at all unless i turn on my mobile hotspot and THEN i can connect via that, BUT if i turn the hotspot off after i get logged off the game, so now i have to sacrifice my data to play, wth?

          • Im having the same issue from norway, were losing our mercy and suspension in trials. My one american friend also get kicked loading into a match. Literally -blam!- up our card plenty times.

          • I was able to play some full pvp games today. Got kicked with beaver from 3 in total. Now i can’t even get in a match. Fly in but as soon as i arrive i get beaver. Restarted the router but no luck. Also in Sweden. Im givning up.

            • I'm from Russia (Siberia), yesterday I had beaver and anteater codes, but I think it got better since Thursday - I literally couldn't join my fireteam that day, and when I did, my teammate got beaver code.

              Same! Hey, Bungie, are you okay over there? "Check your network settings" ?!! I even dont have a router, my PC connected to my provider hardware outside by cable. Why i even have NAT issue then?!!! All my clanmates so angry already, they all have same issues!!!! Today i was helping my friend to complete Duality. And you know what! I got kicked on first boss, and could never comeback over there!!!! Infinite NAT issues, same which have thousands of other people across the whole WORLD!!! Wake up!!! Its NOT our problem! Its YOUR problem! Fix it already!!!

            • Well, I just created post on Reddit about ongoing Beaver pandemic and for some reason it got immediately removed by moderators. Problems with connection are still existing and we have zero information from Bungie about what is going on :(
