Repeat exotics are killing my motivation to play the game
Every time you get one its like punch in the gut. Games are not supposed to feel bad. Don't respond with they said they would fix it. There are TWAB's that date back to 2017 talking about fixing duplicate protection. The worst is having your raid drop be a repeat exotic, now you get robbed of a raid drop and have a worthless item. You can't even infuse cause the system is also broken. I feel like Bungie once again knocked out the first month and left a clusterf$% for the endgame.

I appreciate all the support and people sharing there stories of why this sucks. When asked why exotics are important this was my response :
Exotics literally change the way you play. If you have the Hunter guantlets that give super energy when used blade barrage that would dramatically change the way you play. the same for Phoenix protocol if you play the new subclass. If i am 600 and have beaten the raid, do you think that i might be a bit bored with the current ways i have to play. Each new super(most not all) have an exotic tied to maximize its play style. I can't experience that cause every time an opportunity drops is just and old exotic. Thus locking me out of the new experience. I'm 100% ok with exotic item drop rate i'm not ok with the 99% repeat exotic drop rate.

Bungie said we will still have a chance at duplicates though. Which probably means they’re not really changing the odds at all. They need to make it so you don’t get any duplicates until you have them all. Also Xur not having them makes it worse. They could’ve definitely added them in his loot pool. There’s still so many year one exotics that he probably wouldve only had a new one once a month anyways.

I mean I’m in kind of the same boat. I’m pretty bored of the game now and I’m looking for other games right now even tho I know festival of the lost is coming and it has some potential. Idk I don’t think exotics are THAT big of a deal. If I look at the forsaken exotics I have: queens breaker, chaperone, ace of spades, wishender, and the oathkeeper or whatever the hunter bow gauntlets are, I don’t use any of them and I didn’t even mess around with them for too long. Ace of spades is Only one I actually used but only while I was doing low difficulty leveling stuff and it honestly doesn’t feel that unique anyway. I mean I’m frustrated with the exotics not dropping too and frustrated I haven’t found a good feeling loadout yet with the limited weapon types per slot and random rolls. But really I think I’ve played the game for a year and binged it a lot since forsaken so I’m kind of over it at this point. If I got the loadout I wanted or any exotics it may keep me entertained for a day before I’m bored again realistically.

You have a track record, and this track record is showing that Bungie was right to bring the changes they have brought since you have been playing all day every day since release. May be you misunderstand the rational, but Bungie isn’t there to please you, you are there to please them. You can even stop now, Bungie doesn’t care. In fact Bungie might even make the exotics even harder to get, i mean look at all you boys playing milestones and chasing old and downgraded exotics whilst the majority of gamers are playing other games. Bungie has to keep you guys in. Since making content is hard, making the grind infinite is the best way to pretend that players are back. Basic crook and book cooker’s maths. Basic for a company that is in trouble. Anyway, I really hope you cleared the raid and had a lot of fun in it already. So it seems. Because I feel really bad for all these players that have been playing everyday since release and are still playing crap gambit so they can have a chance to see it, when some players already made a 23min world record. So cheap this game is. No wonder the streams and the almost vanishing community.

I get on every tuesday and grind all of my powerful engrams in shallow hopes of having Contraverse Hold to drop for me. It's been a month and a week and I dont have a SINGLE forsaken exotic(that isn't quest based) and I play every day. Now I dont even want to boot up the game anymore. There is no point to even playing. I just get dreaming city armor pieces and edge transit over and over and over and over again.

I got 3 exotics today ( crazy right?) and not a single one is new. The only new exotics I have gotten are quest exotics.

8 RepliesI totally feel the same way 6 weeks an all I have to show for it is queensbreaker bow that I got from the gunsmith which I got in the first day, 6 weeks later I finally got a forsaken exotic from a milestone, 3 guesses what it was, yeah u guessed it queensbreaker's bow.

The endgame itself is very sound maybe the best it’s been in the history of Destiny. However I’ll definitely agree that there are a few aggravating things that need changed. I can deal with the repeat exotics, but if that’s a thing then they need to buff exotic drop rate just a little bit. The next is the most obvious and that’s the economy of masterwork cores. They’re damn near unattainable and the price of infusion is high. It needs to be either more ways to earn a FAIR amount of them or significantly reduce their role in infusion. I’m all for grindy and difficult and having to think before I infuse anything, but the way it’s currently set up is artificial. You’re not having to think because masterwork cores are rare there’s just no real means of acquiring them

Still haven't had a new Exotic drop, and the whole masterwork core situation has literally brought my gaming experience in Destiny to a screeching halt.

10 RepliesI was going to hold off buying forsaken but from what I've read and seen I think I'll give it a miss all together, Its ran its course and been given so many chances, but Bungie just cant get it right, it's been years ffs, they've been given so much feedback yet cant make one change with out -blam!-ing something else, time to move on. Thank God RDR2 and Anthem arnt far away!

The last 6 exotics I’ve gotten have been Y1 exotics and the one before those was a second Queenbreakers Bow. The last new exotic I’ve gotten was on the 17th :(

I’ve had maybe 15 exotics since forsaken but only 1 (queenbreaker) that was from the new dlc, even some dropped in the 300’s when I used a boon for strikes? Really disappointed

Actually these 2 days have been a turn around for me and a clanmate, while just messing around on titan we killed those 2 high value target servitors and my friend got an exotic engram that turned into the wavespliter, then today during gambit i had an engram go to the post master turned out to be the black talon, and I would like to add that the malfeasance primeval spawned 3 times in the 2 hours we played and I finally got the quest

I've played a lot of Forsaken lately. 1) I love it. 2) I've only had two exotics drop. Two-Tailed Fox (super cool), and a 'forsaken' leveled pair of Aeon Soul gauntlets. I would concur that Bungie may want to tweak the exotic drop rate just a smidge.
