Repeat exotics are killing my motivation to play the game
Every time you get one its like punch in the gut. Games are not supposed to feel bad. Don't respond with they said they would fix it. There are TWAB's that date back to 2017 talking about fixing duplicate protection. The worst is having your raid drop be a repeat exotic, now you get robbed of a raid drop and have a worthless item. You can't even infuse cause the system is also broken. I feel like Bungie once again knocked out the first month and left a clusterf$% for the endgame.

I appreciate all the support and people sharing there stories of why this sucks. When asked why exotics are important this was my response :
Exotics literally change the way you play. If you have the Hunter guantlets that give super energy when used blade barrage that would dramatically change the way you play. the same for Phoenix protocol if you play the new subclass. If i am 600 and have beaten the raid, do you think that i might be a bit bored with the current ways i have to play. Each new super(most not all) have an exotic tied to maximize its play style. I can't experience that cause every time an opportunity drops is just and old exotic. Thus locking me out of the new experience. I'm 100% ok with exotic item drop rate i'm not ok with the 99% repeat exotic drop rate.

I have gotten Ace of Spades as an exotic drop 3 times already... My friend who just started D2 has gotten 5 of the new exotics while I haven't gotten a single one besides the quest ones. My warlock got wings of sacred dawn 3 times in a row. I'm currently at 587 light and it feelssobad.

1 ReplyAgree. Got an exotic drop in the PoE strike. Got the Wish ender. Was disappointed. Ran the raid lastnight. I got 3 of the handcannons. All 600 level, 1 was masterworked. My buddy got 4 guantlets.

Agree 100%. I have 3 characters at 600, beat the raid 10 times and I'm in the same boat as you. Really looking forward to playing other games and leaving D2 behind.

Completely agree. Look a grind can be just fine, but it has to feel like you are actually grinding towards something. The rate that people get duplicate/old dxotics just makes you feel like you really arent grinding for anything. I used to constantly grind in destiny 1 for exotics, running tons of strikes, using three of coins constantly, all in order to actually get new exotics. But in D2 i have no care to do this right now, because when i finally get an exotic to drop there really isnt any anticipation left because i basically know that it is going to be an old one. You can only take away the carrot so many times before someone learns that it is going to be taken away and loses interest in the carrot. A duplicate every now and then is fine (especially with the armour since it can have different perks), but this dupilicate rate is just way to much. When people stop becoming interesting in actually getting exotic items when they still dont have all of them, you know there is an issue with your system.

Or, added a lot more new exotics and decreased the weighting of the old ones. And they should absolutely NOT have changed it so obtained quest exotics were added to the loot pool, I mean its not like you're going to get a better roll on them! Honestly, if anyone out there hasn't completed the Ace of Spades, Chaperone, Malfeasance and Wish Ender quests, or any year 1 quests then my advice is: DON'T! You're just watering down your own loot pool and decreasing your chances of getting new drop exotics. Hopefully the changes Bungie are making will ease this problem. But its Bungie, so I'm expecting to be drowning in Exotics one week after the fix.

3 RepliesEasy fix Replace with exotic tokens earned through game play and you can purchase what you want. Each item value based on rarity IE anything from 10 tokens to 200 to buy. Weeklies and Dailies can pay token rewards RNG sucks in this game seems so onesided you either get loads or none

4 RepliesI got 2 exotics this week. Crimson and colony. Went to the shop today and bought Black Ops 4. Problem solved! Why the -blam!- would anybody grind for hours on end to receive the same bull shit? I havnt been happy with destiny for a while now with changing shit to suit streamers to terrible drops and throw in to the mix repeat exotics also choking progression, masterwork cores being involved in infusion so I’m about done with destiny. If cod won’t fill it’s shoes then red dead will. And if red dead won’t anthem will and if ea -blam!- that up again division 2 will fill the void!

We need a rain of exotics and legendaries imo. Game shouldn’t be about getting a weapon, but rather getting the ideal rolls on weapon or armor. If it was focused on that casuals wouldn’t complain because they would have the weapon/armor and hardcore players could grind for the god roll.

3 RepliesI did the Ace of Spades quest last night, after I finished it I immediately jumped into a strike to try the baby out, it was great. When I returned to the tower there was an exotic engram waiting for me in the postmaster, yep you guessed it, another Ace of Spades. This RNG is completely broken. On a separate note you have to ask the question, how can gamers trust any RNG loot box system that costs real money???

I completely agree I’m getting ready to quit and never come back! I’ve only gotten one shitty forsaken exotic chest and that’s it! Man I have played a ton so it really doesn’t seem to be how much you play at all!

I stopped getting ANY exotic drops around 2 weeks ago, Ive had 7 year ones to date, but nothing recently. My Characters are nearly max light? Getting boring Bungie.

I don't get it, I put in probably 20hrs a week on this F-ing RNG game. Only Y2 exotic i have gotten was LOW, which is a repeat from D1. I've gotten about 6 Y1 and the last 3 have been at a lower light then the current item I am using. But the MOST frustrating is the powerfull engram B.S. When doing the powerful Engram stuff, Same shit in the last 3 weeks. All but one has been lower or 1 above Light than what I am currently using. And this is on my main character. Screw you BUNGO, I am done for a while. Atleast Monster Hunter or Division had a better chance of dropping something you could actually use. Plus if your looking for a specific drop you could go after a specific boss. I spent 1200 Gunsmith Parts trying to get M Cores, not shit dropped but a Y1 Vigilant Wing. Then tried my luck on Titan, 600 Arkane Dust turned 2 MC and the rest into shards. 1200 Mercury shit to get 8 MC. And before anyone starts: I've been playing Destiny since Day 1, for many a months back to back. Then I got sucked into D2, what a waste at first till Warmind. Bungo had something there worth building on then. Then they go and screw it up again with this RNG and Currency, INfusion BS. One day you learn, but not until the vast majority of your regular player base is gone. Your younger player base has already moved on and will disappear when the next round of new games come out.

4 RepliesI will pull everyone back to D1. Everyone was farming Strikes/NFs/Raids/Crucible activities always chasing something. If you didn't get that specific item you were chasing you kept going. If you missed it when Xur sold it you kept grinding. Why in D1 was the exotic duplication argument not a huge thing but in D2 Y2 everyone is crying give me the new good things so I have nothing to chase after. This is literally asking them to back pedal to Y1 where they made everything mega easy to get because Exotics were slightly rarer legendaries. [spoiler]No one is ever happy, nor do they know what they really want - change my mind.[/spoiler]

I left at the vault cause i was just over it. I never do that. They ended up finishing it and NO ONE got anything they wanted, or anything that was worth keeping. How is that acceptable? I think this expansion has arguably the best art and design in the history of gaming. But, and this is the first time Ive said this as well, we all paid money to play for new stuff to use. So far: Malfeasance sucks, Wish Ender sucks, the raid isnt rewarding, exotics and catalysts dont drop, everyone gets pointless duplicates, stupid infusion system....etc.... If you clear the raid, you should get 1000 Voices guaranteed. Maybe drop a catalyst for it that requires multiple raid completions or whatever. I know people who have 10+ clears and dont have the gun. Thats ridiculous. We paid for this stuff.

I ended up getting 3 exotics within a 20 minute period yesterday. All were year 1 exotics I had. I was thrilled that I got 3 in one hour since I rarely get any, but I was hoping for at least 1 new one. Nope. I think I'm going to take a break until Tuesdays halloween event and play spiderman. If the drops continue like this, I may be taking a longer break especially once red dead 2 comes out.
