Let me first state that this game is not perfect! But it is definitely not a trash game either :)
Being a HUGE D1 fan, i have had a lot of fun in D2. I have 200 hours at the moment, and i still return every week to complete some milestones and play raid with friends in the weekends.
(Yes i actually find the raid funny, not the best one they ever made, but definitely not the worst either! *cough* Crota *cough*)
90% of posts on the forum right now:
Bungie lied to us!
- No? I have yet to see anything they promised pre-launch that has not been implemented. You might not like the actual implementation, but Bungie has not lied to you.
Bungie stole my money!
- Come on! Research what you buy before you buy it! Don't pre-order a game and then whine about pre-ordering it because you didn't like it. Just wait til after it is released and do some initial research before you buy. This is really your own fault!
Bungie fix your game
- Bungie is not gonna throw away everything in their hands 2 months after launch and completely redesign a game that they just only published on all platforms. How can people seriously expect this?
This game is shit / etc etc...
- How are you supposed to fix anything from posts like this? I am all for constructive criticism, but being a developer myself, i can tell you that nothing will ever get fixed based on posts like that.
The devs does not listen to their community!
- Bungie has already stated in a weekly update that they know people are complaining about lack of end game content, and they are looking into it. And the TwitchCon stream showed that the live team is working on all sorts of other fixes to address concerns. They might not answer every possible thread on the forum, but based on the quality of posts on this forum, it is quite understandable.
Lack of content!
- This is a brand new game? Did people expect this to have the same amount of content as D1 Y3, a game with 4 released expansion packs and 3 years of post-launch development?
PVP is runied!
- I like the new PVP alot more than in D1! But for those that dont, blame the people that flooded the forum in the D1 era with posts whining over Crucible being unbalanced! Stupid Bungie for listening to the community ;)
D2 is dying! / Player base is disappearing
- I cant even count how many times i have read this in the D1 era without the game ever dying! And who expects a game to never loose player base with time? At some point you will always exhaust the content. This seems completely normal to me.
My own suggestions for improvements:
Strike specific loot - Gives a reason to play strikes in the endgame.
Heroic lost sectors - Not sure how this would work :) But lost sectors are a very cool addition to the game, and a system that would make them relevant at end game would be cool. Maybe a weekly milestone for completing a hidden heroic lost sector?
A more comprehensive mod system for weapons - Now that weapons have fixed rolls, i always thought it would be more of a "build your god roll" instead of RNG. Mods are really under-utilised for weapons. Much potential here for improvement.
Iron banner rewards underwhelming - Seems like Bungie is already working on fixing this.
Raid loot system underwhelming - Agreed, but i find the raid quite enjoyable anyway.
The world design of D2 and the way you interact with the world is 100x better than D1!
Conclusion
If you really dont like the game then just move on. I have bought many games in the past that i regretted, but i dont spam the games forum with crap posts for weeks after finding out. I usually just find another game to play instead.
D2 is a very solid game in my opinion, i have had great fun with it. My average play time at this point has fallen (as is normal), but i still enjoy returning a couple of times a week with friends doing Nightfall, Raid and Crucible/Iron Banner. I am really looking forward to the next DLC and season 2 to see what Bungie comes up with. They have always done a great job with post-launch content.
---- UPDATE ----
For all the people that still dont think Bungie listens to its community. Please read this: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46427 as stated in this post, it was reasonable to think Bungie would focus on releasing the game on all platforms before starting to redesign features :D

Spoken like a docile sheep, they promised a lot more than they delivered and just because a game has done it before does not make this game acceptable
-
I played less than a month and have gotten the platinum trophy with every gun in the game. Games pretty bad. I've been playing Destiny since day 1. No grind the game was made for casuals not for Destiny players.

The TWAB has some good fixes but none of it will come before 2018. The player base will be lower than the end of D1.

7 RepliesEdited by blade329: 10/27/2017 5:56:04 AMIs it a bad game? No. Is it a dull game that was over hyped? Yes Is it a huge disappointment compared to what we expected? Yes. Is it a step backwards after 3 years of development? Yes. Are you a low expectation fan boy Bungie apologist? Maybe. You sure sound like one.

Good game but don't have the the originally d1 has so it's now just a game like others
-
Only been on since TTK, I love the game but D2 has been the worst installment out of the ones I've gotten to be a part of.
-
The game is incredible but it isn't replayable whatsoever.
-
The player base really is dying this time though

Enjoy

Edited by Blind-N-1I: 10/27/2017 2:07:18 PMD2 is not necessarily a horrible game, it’s just NOT Destiny in so many ways. Destiny had a uniqueness shared by a relatively small number of games. Destiny 2 shares a simple commonality with a ton of games that have come and gone. About the only thing in D2 that resembles D1 is our character’s appearance, and the enemy we’re battling. Other than that there’s really no comparison from a reasonable standpoint. They should have built on what D1 eventually became instead of reverting to stale ideas that are being pumped out weekly in other lackluster titles. What they did to this game makes no sense outside of just wanting to maximize profit with as little work put forward as possible. There is zero originality or imagination flowing through the Bungie tribe right now.

3 RepliesYou are a ray of light in the darkness. I think there’s lots of other Guardians having fun playing D2 that are not into the forum negativity that don’t usually write posts.

Both D1 and D2 are not the best games ever
Halo 2, Titanfall 2, and Arkham City are
but they are my most favorite. You can run around gorgeous looking planets with space revolvers and space guns and shoot/blow up different kinds of aliens whilst using space powers and space magic. I hope to play D1 until the servers die and to continue playing D2.

Like everything else today, everything is extreme. I neither hate or love this game. It could be better, it's rather lifeless. I don't want to grind, I want a world to explore and learn about, not have to work for hours and hours for some gun or armor that's a little better. I want discovery.

Haters gon hate, simple fact of life.

You're right... It's worse.

1 Replythis game is the Suicide Squad of games. Just caus eit made money for the shareholders does not mean its a good game for players

1 ReplyAre you retarded calling this insane mockery of a game not bad? Well you're right it's -blam!-ing terrible. It's worse than its predecessor by a million. Destiny 2 more like The pre alpha for the e3 release of Destiny 1
-
4 RepliesI love this game! I am blown away by the quality... I am so confused by what people are saying on here! I just got it for the PC. Bungie did a fantastic job with this game. Everything is seamless and beautiful, the textures, the animations, the cutscenes. However, note taken: time to hop off these forums. The negativity out there is crazy! Enjoy it guys, quit whining about the small details you wish were different!

8 RepliesReally you must be slow minded. This is the worst game ever made!!!!

HEY!!! YOU LEAVE MY FAVORITE STRIKE ALONE.

Edited by ToughGuy051: 10/27/2017 4:44:45 AMDude this forum isn't even for Destiny fans. Its like a bunch of alcoholics who keep complaining about the crappy beer but they keep drinking it. Im not even a fanboy. I loved and hated Destiny 1. But even I can see that this is a lil much for hate.

Edited by Calculus-Entropy: 10/27/2017 5:00:01 AMJust my own answers to your post, for whatever that’s worth... Bungie lied to us! - No? I have yet to see anything they promised pre-launch that has not been implemented. You might not like the actual implementation, but Bungie has not lied to you. —- “Hybrid P2P”? D1 pvp... shot behind cover 40-50% of the time. Bungie says don’t worry, Hybrid P2P is actually better than dedicated servers and our old p2p. I’m not going to humor anyone with another made up percentage, the the general consensus is that it’s much worse (more getting shot through cover). Many feel lied to. Here’s another... QP playlist will “prioritize connections” above all else. In fact they even went so far as to say you should be prepared to be get beat by better players. I can dump a bunch of screenshots of my router’s geolocation map showing me (NY) connecting with places like Japan and Africa sometimes in the same match. The best was Australia (~10,500mi away, solo player btw). Prioritizing connections? Again, I’m feeling so lied to over this one that it’s beyond frustrating. Should we be playing against a connection or other players? That’s a serious question. When my own performance in a match doesn’t determine the outcome (good or bad), why even log on? Bungie stole my money! - Come on! Research what you buy before you buy it! Don't pre-order a game and then whine about pre-ordering it because you didn't like it. Just wait til after it is released and do some initial research before you buy. This is really your own fault! —-Yes and no. You see glimpses of the game that are fed to you months in advance. You know what the prequel was and believe the claims of everything being better. You have multiple instances of “Preorder Exclusive” this/that. See my examples of “lied to” above and you make the call. Yes, you could wait till year 2 of D2 before knowing if it’s a safe buy, but do you? Bungie fix your game - Bungie is not gonna throw away everything in their hands 2 months after launch and completely redesign a game that they just only published on all platforms. How can people seriously expect this? —- Fixes shouldn’t require a “redesign”. People aren’t asking for a different physics engine or a new aspect of the game. Some posts do have valid concerns and even supply ideas that would help. This game is shit / etc etc... - How are you supposed to fix anything from posts like this? I am all for constructive criticism, but being a developer myself, i can tell you that nothing will ever get fixed based on posts like that. —- Totally agree... but it’s the lack of responses to valid questions and concerns that pushed it this far (for the most part). Not 5-6 weeks of no responses, but 3yrs and 5-6 weeks. Meanwhile a post like “what’s your favorite color” gets a response. Who’s trolling who here? Lol The devs do not listen to their community! —- Addressing one broad issue with a promise of new shiny items in a new “season” (whatever the hell that is) isn’t considered a fix by many. People aren’t expecting a laundry list of fixes in each TW@B, but a few pictures doesn’t cut it for many while the rest of the TW@B says “we’re listening” and “pc is where it’s at!”. Lack of content! - This is a brand new game? Did people expect this to have the same amount of content as D1 Y3, a game with 4 released expansion packs and 3 years of post-launch development? —- Total truth here if you ask me. If it was anything they did wrong it was making too much accessible too easily, but I’m 100% with you on this one. PVP is runied! - I like the new PVP alot more than in D1! But for those that dont, blame the people that flooded the forum in the D1 era with posts whining over Crucible being unbalanced! Stupid Bungie for listening to the community ;) —- Agree again with whining, but the blame ultimately rests on Bungie for making the changes. Was it Overwatch or The Division where people whined about “nerf this, nerf that” right in the beginning and the Devs basically replied “This isn’t Destiny” and nothing changed. The real things that ruined pvp (again) were covered above (my own opinion of course). I wish the best for this game because I want to play it! It’s obvious though that they took many wrong turns with a game that was very successful in its first iteration.
