It seems every iron banner I have to make this thread because despite this game mode existing in first person shooters for as long as I can remember as well as two years in destiny it still seems like the average player has no clue what they're doing in iron banner control:
1. See those letters? Those are zones. Stand in them for a bit. They give you points per kill based on how many you own. Having a zone gives you more points than if you had no zones. Two zones gives you more points than if you have one zone. More points means you win the game.
Points are good. Zones give you points. Capture the zones.
2. Don't capture all three zones. I know you just found out that holding zones means you win the game but don't get too greedy! If you take all three then all the enemies will start spawning all around you and you screw everything up. Screwing everything up for your team is bad. It makes you have less points. Less points means you lose the game. Losing the game is bad.
And there you go. Points are good. Zones give you points. Capture the zones. Ask yourself if you've captured a zone recently. Tell your friends about zones.
This has been your friendly reminder on how to play control.

Little tip if you get Widows Court. Hold A and C. Free win.
-
I was watching a streamer today. They were right next to the A flag but they would not stand on it and cap it. They were too busy trying to get kills. Their team ended up losing the match, but it was okay, because they finally got that god roll Clever Dragon they were after smh
-
Also.......depending on map the preferred Zones will change, A & B or B & C and sometimes A & C.

Edited by More Cowbell: 11/11/2016 6:13:17 PMThe circles with flags in the middle are like light bulbs. The opposing team are moths. Predictable enemy movements are why I prefer Control. Rift is also good. Oh, and I always capture Zone A on Shores of Time just to piss people off.

I call bs on only holding 2 zones. A match yesterday we were up till around 10000 points, then for the rest of the match we were down 1500 to 2000 points. The other team was sitting around 19000 and, we were at 17000, I thought we were pretty well done for and we capped a 3rd zone, proceeded to wreck and win the match. Forget playing it safe. If you're not first your last. "Ricky bobby"

I will cap 3 zones if I feel like it.
-
We won a match yesterday with only one zone the entire match.... lol just kill fools it helps 😂

Edited by Benzene21: 11/11/2016 5:47:49 PMAnd this is your friendly reminder on how these threads do nothing to change how people play a game mode. Posting the same thing every time, one would think you got it already.

4 RepliesWho -blam!-ing cares? Ppl can do what they want how they want. I bought it if I wanna play like a retard I'll do it
-
Despite often being told off for it, my raid team did some IB, and we held all three zones. One of my best games in a while lol, just look at the score on cauldron iron banner. If your team is capable of holding all three zones, don't worry about it .
-
33 kills, 5 captures! Fight forever guardians!!!!
-
7 RepliesThis was probably not directed at me since I am top 1% for zones captured in the world.....your k/d suffers but you win a lot more when you play the objective. I go to B with invective and say "lets party fellas". Sometimes I get wrecked...sometimes my team supports me and we wreck. Objectively correct badge is burned into my screen....and so is on the bright side....just enjoy yourself. I have fun playing and I don't get mad when other people that don't play as much struggle with winning strategies. I also am that Titan that smashes the enemy heavy and gets a ton of multi kills or dies trying.

Edited by zestyzest: 11/11/2016 5:14:27 PMAnother reminder, If the enemy is taking B...
THEN FUCKING RUSH B FOR GODS SAKE
5 RepliesIt's year 3 and people still don't understand. They never will. They don't care, either. Clash is the only suitable game mode for Iron Banner.
-
It's a lost cause bro. I'll be capping and two team mates just scurry by. No one plays the objective. My second game this banner I had a guy on my team had 37 kills zero caps. Makes you just wanna go to orbit or throw the controller. Glad I make the sensible choice and throw my broken one. Lol.

1 ReplyCome on now, if you really want to be a team player just take these few easy steps. 1)Download a torrent client onto a pc on your network. 2)start seeding a movie to the world at a 50% of available upload speed. 3)jump into a few matches of the ol'banner and rubber band all over just like everyone else. This way it's fair for both teams.
-
Unfortunately if your not on with 4-6 of your friends, you most likely will play it like clash if intended or not.
-
Another thing I want to add when you have more then one person capturing a zone. The zone gets captured faster, which means your standing there for a lot less time being vulnerable to Nova bomb or fist of havoc.
-
Wait this IB isnt clash? Had me fooled...
-
Don't forget that if you see a single team member trying to capture a zone, don't rush past them - stop and lend a hand. The more people whole capture the zone means more points and more points are always good.
-
1 ReplyStop posting this shit. Most of the people that play it wrong don't read forums
-
Pro-tip: Zones that are closer to one another are easier to protect! Sometimes B & C are better to hold than A & B.

Make a fireteam and red bar the shit out of the lobby. Guaranteed victory.

I played a match in a fireteam of four, and none of us bothered to capture the zones. I was the only one, so it went terrible. Also...
Points are good. Zones give you points. Capture the zones.
