Hand Cannon Phantom Bullets

Hey community, just wanted to get your opinion on this as well. I am a hand cannon user and have loved them from the beginning but nothing drives me more nuts than hand cannon phantom bullets. If you use a hand cannon then you know what I mean. You land that perfect first shot and then either your second, third or fourth shot just plan misses even though your gun is aimed straight at his head or chest. I feel like hand cannons are close but I really feel like this need to be addressed. I forget Bungie's exact wording but it's something to the extent of taking your time with each shot. I'm sorry but that's not possible when you have people running around with guns like DoP that can mow you down almost immediately. With a hand cannon I don't have time to steady each shot to ensure it hits in these instances. I don't mind losing a gun fight but it drives me nuts when I lose a fight that I clearly would have won had that last bullet registered. What do you guys think?

  • There's times where I'm literally almost in a warlocks melee range and I blatantly shoot an enemy and it doesn't hit. And this is with a rangefinder, hand loaded, hidden hand eyasluna. It's really annoying especially in trials where every shot counts

    • This is definitely real, and I don't think it's on accident. I think that Bungie loves RNG so much, that they are even using it to balance the crucible.

      • I think that Hand cannon bloom per shot should be decreased by 10% and Bloom recovery speed should be increased by 10%. Also increase base range by one meter and smooth out the range drop by an extra meter. Fixing the phantom bullets and slightly increasing the range would put hand cannons in a sweet spot in my opinion.

            • DoP can outshoot a handcannon in handcannon range if both people start shooting at the same time and don't miss a bullet... yes doctorine archtype is over performing i know that their range is slightly too long, but that's not the important part here the important part is that they do that without headshots and i need 3 to have the same ttk on max fire rate, since i can't do that i shun away from everything that isn't thorn -me like getting hatemail- because of the phantoms

                My Ace of Spades has Reinforced Barrel (higher range than my MIDA) and I still experience this =(

              • Bought hawk moon from xur, used it for 5 minutes.. it's now in stash. I loved hand cannons in yr 1, hawk moon was my first yr 2 since coming back a week ago. Shots just don't hit the target.

                • Pumped a kid with 3 tlw shots before he could react but two of them were phantoms so I got pwned by doctrine of course, this needs to be addressed asap having a whole gun type unusable is absurd, it's like they want everyone using the same weapons

                  • Unless you are using an exotic hc like hawkmoon or tlw handcannon feel like if you use one it handicaps you.

                      I think the dmg dropoff to HCs was a good change but decreasing ADS accuracy and increasing bullet bloom are annoying RNGish changes that are frustrating.

                      • Right now the meta is bullet hoses that require less skill and are more forgiving for missing shots. I don't care for it. I still win some gun fights with DoP that have counter balance and barley pull it off. High rate of fire weapons should not have high stability. In the mean time you do have to pace your shots with a hand cannon to do well. I find the pace of just about waiting for the recoil animation to work well. I understand this is a bit nerve racking when getting showered with a DoP. Also when engaging a DoP user you want to break up their fire, such as taking cover. This will help by limiting how much persistence procs for them.

                      • Yea i noticed that to hitting target then bullets decided to vanish for a shot or to. Maybe hit detection is off it seams like that happens once in a while with other weapons to. Just another bug in the game
