Guys I hate to say it... but selling packages that have a chance at experience boosts, which in turn give you a quicker chance at getting better gear? Selling packages that gives you armor, that has random rolls.... i know the armor still has to be enfused but... say you have an armor piece from the sterling packages that has a perfect int/disc roll... run one challenge mode and get a 335 chest to enfuse to and theyre done...
Sounds awefully close to pay to win... I'd love to hear your rebuttle and/or justification... No hate intended... just giving ya a heads up... This isnt gonna be good.
Edit: I've seen a pretty good explaination as to how the new gear will work. I really have no hard feelings about the armor anymore...
Edit: I have learned from folks in this posts that the gear that is given via sterling packages does not come with stats and that said gear absorbs the stats/ attributes that are enfused into it... So that throws some of my original understanding out the window. Thanks for the correction.
Edit: Nope.... I was wrong again... TWAB states that armor in sterling packages will have random perks and Stats... It's official... Bungie has taken one more step towards Pay to Win... Bungie please don't take it any further. I love your game but I will not support this.

1 ReplyPay to win is when you can have 0 playing time and max level with the best gear. The packages will contain mostly cosmetic armour and the boost make you play it doesn't level you up without playing. I wouldn't buy because duplicates after duplicates. You don't even know what pay 2 win is.

2 RepliesThe chances of getting a "God" roll on a weapon or piece of armor from the packages are the same if u just play the game.

You know how, in football or soccer, when you're running really really close to the line? That's called in bounds. Oddly enough, the refs don't blow the whistle until you actually cross the line.

1 ReplyEdited by Michelob21: 4/1/2016 8:50:36 PMNot that I'm for micro transactions or anything (though I'm not against them, either) but pay to win is completely different than what is being offered here. Pay to win refers to games that offer items for sale that are not offered in the game through normal game play but are also superior to those offered in normal game play as well. This is more like pay not to play and still be on par with those that play. Regardless of whether Bungie adds these options as microtransactions or not, the options are always there in MMOs. Think trials carries or raid carries. People offer those for a fee.

5 RepliesLet's think about this. Even if I buy 5 boxes and get all reputation boosts (highly unlikely), I still have to play to use them. I can activate them and still need to grind strikes, or crucible or poe to use them. And odds are, they will only give a 25% boost. In the end, buying sterling boxes won't get you ahead even if you only got boosts.

Yeah....they have the exact same random stats as every other piece of legendary armor. The one and only way this could possibly be any kind of problem to anyone is if the armor from those packages came with unique stats or perks that didn't already come on every other piece of legendary gear. Any sure, I get the argument that you could just buy & buy packages until you get exactly the roll you want.........& that's fine with me, if you want to spend a hundred bucks to get gauntlets with high discipline & fusion rifle loader, I say go for it.......only a complete moron would go through that for very minimal comparative improvements that you can also easily get by just playing the game.

If you suck at the game you're still going to suck if "pay to win" really happens...

Whenever I see pay to win on here I laugh.

10 RepliesEdited by Klipx2010: 4/1/2016 4:09:02 PMI see what you mean yes you do get 3 free sterling treasure per week. but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to buy 20 boxes day 1 and have a full set of gear before anyone who is just playing. Then when I do oryx 3times that week plus PoE all those 335 will just go to the set I bought without waiting weeks for more free boxes I'm definitely going to feel like I paid to win Edit: I'm at work I haven't played destiny in months and I really won't spend money for those packages but I do understand people's fear

2 RepliesWith all your edits...........this is what I've been posting since it came out on these forum posts....I'm actually genuinely worried that they will ruin it by taking it a step further, when the mindless ones eat this up. People with common sense can see its just a stepping stone to something far worse.

3 RepliesHere's the problem I see, they're trying to accommodate both sides while in turn hurting both sides. I hate PTW it takes the accomplishment feeling from finally getting that item you wanted and worked so hard for. For example that first gally drop when you thought it would never happen, the feeling of yes it finally dropped for me. With the new equipment that you can buy your way into until you get everything you want will not have the same effect. On the flip side giving 3 free boxes every week after completing a quest or mission takes (good god I'm gonna say it) the grind outta the game and just hands you the new items overtime. Now I'm not a fan of the grind in destiny but when it's completely taken away what's the draw to play for the gear or drops you want. A lot of players are grind hores (and I mean that in a good way) that love that feeling of there item dropping with the perfect roll or just to finally get said armor after 30 runs at a strike/raid. Bungie needs to decide, to go full PTW and make the casuals happy or remove it all together and in my opinion make the grind a lot more rewarding but still give the feeling of working towards a goal without causing mass burnout.

1 ReplyThey are definitely testing the waters and seeing how close they can get to that line without jumping over it.

3 RepliesTiny steps to get the idiots to swallow it, it's heading in 1 way and that's obvious to see.

Stop it. Just stop. Buy some or not, its a personal decision and bungie deserves to collect a little extra if people want faster packs just like clash of clans or any other app store game....I will buy zero because I like to play to earn. Totally optional dude

4 RepliesRegardless what arguments people make Bungie is clearly trying slowly introduce more and more micro transactions and slowly crossing more and more lines while they do it. I'm not sure there is any stopping it. Oh well, never bought silver never will. It's a bad principle and I don't/won't support it. I want DLC, not dance moves and waves.
